Buddy, my little Corgi that I rescued while on duty at my police department, has been seriously shedding since I brought him home. I brush him daily, but the shedding keeps up. My vet says he is in good health and his coat is shiny, so that isn't an issue. He gets quality food - Purina semimoist and Alpo canned. Maybe he is shedding because we are entering warm weather, but I'm not sure as Buddy is my first Corgi. None of our oyher three mutts shed nearly as much as Buddy. Can anyone give me some advice on this issue?

The world of Corgi ownership is full of extra fur (they gotta have one vice I guess). You get to be a good friend of your vacuum cleaner and broom. Mine bring more love than mess, so they are worth the bother of cleaning up fur and constant brushing. I still don't have a furminator, but plan to get one. I use a slicker brush and it does a good job on Leo's fur. I thought he was getting fat and then with summer shedding I realized he is still thin. I agree with the others on the food issue, I am switching my boys to Blue Buffalo right now. Sounds like you are already falling in love with your Corgi...they do that to you. You are sweet for taking him in and giving him a good home. I am always shocked to hear of a Corgi as a stray or in a shelter...I can't imagine life without mine.
Boo,

I can't imagine not having our dogs. As I maneioned, all are rescues and my wife and I consider them members of our family. They bring happiness into our lives because they love us unconditionally and ask nothing in return
