The breeder of Twinkie and her sibling owned by my mom just told mom that neither of them should be bred now because of their almond-shaped eyes?! (I know Twinkie could not have been bred b/c of her fluffy coat) Her sister Barbie is smooth-coated and adorable. Can a breeder out there tell me if the standard has changed for eye shape?

The standard says the eyes should be oval. Also, you can breed a fluffy. In order for the pups to be fluffs they would have to get the gene from both parents. Even smooth coated Corgis can produce fluffs if they are both carrying the fluffy gene and pass it to the pups.
Oh, that is very enlightening. I wish now that I hadn't agreed to spay Twinkie so quickly. It was a request from the breeder. I guess there is no harm in just having one Twinkie in the world : )
I think it was a smart decision anyway. There's so much that can go wrong with a litter just like it did with Finnigan's and it's heartbreaking. I'd rather leave it to the pros (not that it wasn't hard for Finn's breeder but he's used to handling these sort of things). :)

Did your Mom have a spay agreement?
No. My mom's female, Barbie, is a show dog as is the one that started it all, Tater. My mom actually got into corgis because ...A) She has always liked them and knew a good breeder and B) We wouldn't take a Pointer from her (which is what she breeds and shows). Once she had both dogs with the understanding of the breeder that she would breed them, it became apparent that is wasn't going to happen. I got Twinkie straight from the breeder and Barbie and Tater just are living the high life of a show dogs. They are all featured on mom's website (I designed for her) www.albionapointers.com.
Awe, they're adorable.
