My 4 month old corgi just threw up. We were laying down together when suddenly he got up off of the bean bag chair we were sharing and barfed. Thank goodness for me he got up first! My wife just rushed him off to the vet. Earlier today I was eating some dried cranberries and I know he had gotten some. I try not to feed people food to Barkley but he is quite talented at getting some anyway. Could the dried cranberries be the problem? It would have been a few hours time since he got them. He also has a habbit of eating all kinds of things from around the yard, see my other post about obsessive poo eating. I'm just worried about my little guy!

Hmm, I know cranberries by themselves are probably okay for dogs since it's the ingredient in a lot of dog treats and food. But I'm not sure if the fact that they were dried cranberries make a difference. I know raisins are toxic for dogs.

If it makes you feel better, Stanley has thrown up a couple of times and was completely fine afterwards. He's 9 months.
I know I'm probably over reacting. Barkley is our only child. We have pet insurance though so we rushed him to the vet.
Don't ever worry about that! It's better to be safe than sorry.
retrace everything he put in his mouth for the last 12 hours, anything new could be the culprit, this could also happen if a new bag of food is introduced.
When Sky was a puppy he threw up all the time! There was really no rhyme or reason. My policy with him became that I went to the vet if it had gone on for 24 hours of more (which it almost never did, maybe once) or if there were other symptoms such as lethargy. Otherwise, I would have been at the vet every week... literally!

As my dogs have grown up, I've learned more about their personalities, and for one dog throwing up might be a cause of concern, but for another, as long as they are acting normal otherwise, I don't worry about it. Just use your best judgement. Good luck!
I admit I go to the vet at the drop of a hat, especially when Bertie was young because he was my first furry kid, too. And I learned -- he threw up a lot (I think dogs have a great vomit reflex, don't you?) eating this and that or drinking too fast. Eventually I learned the difference between an "oh, maybe I shouldn't have eaten THAT" and a true "Mom, I'm sick." In particular, I watch how he's acting otherwise -- restless, uncomfortable, lethargic, or whatever -- whether there's blood or tons of mucus involved, and whether he's drinking fluids and keeping them down. But I totally agree with Joanna and Algy -- go to the vet whenever you're concerned, if you can afford it -- like she said, better safe than sorry. And the vet shouldn't mind, and can teach you all kinds of nifty things. I've learned so much in the past 5 years! And my entire vet's office is very fond of my guys, now, too, so they get all kinds of personal attention (so really, freuqent visits are kind of a win-win, in the end, well, sort of).
