So not that I dont love my little guy exactly the way he is, but around what age does the "sabling" dissapear? Stewie has quite a bit of black mixed throughout his red & white on his back. The pic below is of the second day we had him. Its been a week since he came home and it almost seems like he has gotten more black on top. Is there a chance he could actually be a sable? Or is it normal for them to get darker before they get lighter?

Oh - he's so cute - how old is he? Our guy lightened up a lot between two and three months. He didn't darken at all. They get that "skunk line" down the spine, and that fur seems to be a little darker than the rest, but not much.
hmm... i've always wanted to ask the same question too...tiida's ears seem to have black marking.. will the markings fade out?? she's almost 3 months old

she's got black marking on the ear... does that mean she's going to be a sable?
Stewie looks sable to me and so does Tiida. They are young and can change a lot in time. I just knew Randy was going to be a sable (what I wanted) when he was born. Since bringing him home he has lost just about all this blackness except for having a sooty snout with black freckles. His courser back hair is very red. So now I think he will be a red and white. Still love him and think he is the prettiest pup around. You just have to wait and see.

This is Randy now and he is the picture for this group. You can see a big color change.
Tank has a lot of black on him too.. and the older he gets the darker it gets. His ears, strip on his back.. and the cutest of all.. he looks like he is wearing eyeliner. Perfect little black circles around his eyes. =]
