My Corgi ManTau loves to stay inside his cage the whole day. He is extremely quiet and look unhappy the whole time. Even we leave the door opens he just likes to lay inside the cage. The only moment he comes out is when I feed him. When we try to play with him with toys etc. he looks at us and turn his face around. Is that normal? No, right? Any suggestions to cheer him up?

You'll need to rule out any medical problems with your vet.

If he is physically healthy, then it sounds like he may be a bit shy. Puppies do sleep 16 or more hours a day, but he should have some interest in playing and general curiosity about his surroundings. Continue to try to encourage him to play with a variety of different types and textures of toys. For shy dogs only, you can let him win at tug-of-war to help build his confidence. (Dominant dogs should not win a game of tug.) Try not to ever yell or scold him loudly, as this will only make him want to hide more. You can strengthen the bond between you by having him nap on your lap some, with gently words and petting to help him feel more secure.

You may be doing all these things already, and he's just taking some time to adjust to his new home. With a bit of patience and time, I bet he'll come out of his shell. Then you can post, 'Help, my dog has taken over the house.' LOL
Man Tau may feel secure in his crate because of his age. I agree with Charlie that a trip to the vet would be a good idea. Corgis are inquisitive and naturally active so I would be sure and check with your vet.
You dont mention how old he is, where you obtained him or how long you have had him. The answers to these questions may shed much light on your situation. I have to say it would be most concerning to me that a young corgi would not come out of his crate. Agreed as well that if he has not had a complete veterinary exam this would be the first consideration. Is he eating normal? Is he eliminating appropriately? Does he generally appear bright and alert? Have you noticed he being fearful in his environment? Does he play with toys? Does he enjoy being petted when he is out? I suspect he either is not feeling well or has been isolated in his former life and is fearful to be anywhere except inside his crate. Do let us know what the veterinary report indicates.
Corgis are by nature happy dogs. Maybe you can try spending more quality time with him. All the best!

Best wishes from Singapore.
