Size and Collar question?

Freya is now 8 months old and I really would like to buy her a custom collar but I want to buy the final adult collar size. Do you think she's done growing in order for me to do this? Should I wait until she is closer to a year old?

She can still wear her baby collar and a medium is very, very large on her (bought it for 3 dollars.)

Any help would be appreciated!

Ours filled up around 2 years old and weight around 27-28lbs, they wear medium size.

It's unlikely she's at her adult size at only 8 months. Will probably reach full height at about a year, but may continue to fill out until around 2.

The other thing to keep in mind is that you will want the collar to be adjustable enough to accommodate her coat; our Corgi carries a very full ruff when he is in coat, but not as much of one when he is out of coat. We must tighten his collar in summer and let it out again in winter.

collar FAQ

I really like my modified Martingales (photos in the FAQ). When they were adults, I removed the adjustment buckle and stitched it permanently to save weight and bulk. You can fine-tune the length of the perlon cord that replaces the chain.
Consider: you're asking the dog to haul that thing around all its life, so make it as lightweight, soft and comfortable as possible. We're slipping ours on-and-off all the time, they don't wear them indoors (they're microchipped in case of escape without a collar).

Mine is chipped too, and we also take a collar off inside.

Because of his big neck and ruff, we need to keep the collar so tight to keep it from slipping it off on a walk that I don't like to leave it on when he's not outside. The chip makes me feel safer, just in case. I would hope anyone would know he's someone's pet, based on his grooming and behavior, but you never know.
