I thought I'd start a discussion to get to know everyone's taste a little better. What genre do you read most? Do you have a favorite topic (ie love, vampires, pirates, fairies etc)? Please share a little about yourself. :)

I love all books but I do enjoy a good fantasy love story every now and then. I loved the Twilight series. I read it to make sure it was good for my twelve year old daughter. I have since ready the "True Blood" series with Sookie. I am rereading Lonley Bones before the movie comes out. I LOVE this book. Anything that I can loose myself in and forget about the day. I am rereading the classics with my daughter, Wuthering Heights, Jane Austin novels, etc. It is great to read them all again as an adult.
I read Gone With the Wind as a teen about 6 times and Scarlett at least that many, 2 of my favorite classics to fall back on at anytime.
I read a lot of different stuff. Neil Gaiman, Terry Prachett, and Christopher Moore are amongst my favorite authors. I will try to read any book, but there are just some that as a man can not be completed (for instance the Twilight series). I also enjoy history books, especially those first hand account novels written by Vietnam Veterans that were long range patrolmen. Also, I love graphic novels. As a kid, my friends were reading batman and spiderman while I was reading the Watchmen and the Sandman series
You and my husband would get along great! He loves comics. He's by far the most knowledgeable person I've met when it comes to comics. I enjoy them as well but I'm no match for him. :)

We both like Neil Gaimen and he's been trying to get me to read the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Have you read it?
I actually do not care for Stephen King, I have tried to read some of his earlier works and found them too dry in the beginning to get through. I just finished Chuck Palahniuk's Lullaby, which I found to be better than Fight Club.

Neil Gaiman is a great guy, I have my copy of Doll's House signed by him. Have you heard that there is talk of an American Gods miniseries on HBO? And Death: The High Cost of Living is going to be a film, but I will not see it since Shia LeBeouf will be in it (he plays the same character in every movie).

Right now I am reading John Kennedy Toole's A Confederacy of Dunces, it is a comedy of sorts that takes place in New Orleans, which is like a second home town to me. It is pretty good so far, the comedy is surprisingly brilliant at times, while just a bit dull at others.
I'm not a Stephen King fan either and really, neither is my husband. Besides Dark Tower and the Omen I don't think he's read much Stephen King.

I read Lullaby. I really liked it! I've read most of his books and I really enjoy his writing style.

Yes I did hear abou the American Gods mini series. Very exciting!
I love just about anything that is well written and engaging. My favorite fiction author is Marian Keyes and I absolutely adore the Harry Potter series. I love fantasy, classics, mysteries (specifically historical ones) and non fiction. I intend to read the Sookie Stackhouse books next since I like True Blood, but I'm always on the lookout for a new series or book.
I adore Harry Potter! I started the Sookie Stackhouse series and I like it. It's a fun, easy read. Definitely no Harry Potter but still a good story. :)
I love all books! But I too tend to read more of the historical books. I've read nearly every Philipa Gregory book! She is one of my favorites! I like the classics too, you know like Wuthering Heights, Anna Karinina (sp?), Jane Austen books. I love books about native americans too. My favorite series is the She Who Remembers series. Can't remember the author right now. Oh I also really, really like James Patterson!! Especially his Womens Murder Mystery Club books! Sooooo good!! I just love books!! I read constantly!
I love all books as evidenced by the stacks I have laying around my house right now! I have mostly been attracted to fiction, but not exclusively dedicated to that I guess. Anne Rice is one of my favorite authors for her vampire series. I would like to read a few of her more religious-based novels, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Vampires are my weakness, but I love mystical fast-paced novels.
I'm with you! I love Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, but as I mentioned in the other discussion "How Bad Can It Be", I quit in the middle of the Vampire Armand and never finished the rest. One day I may pick it back up and just bypass the Vampire Armand. I have her more recent religious novels but I have not read them yet. I would like to try the Mayfair Witches series as well. Have you read any of those? I'm such a sucker for vampires too. I love fantasy, folklore, and the supernatural. I guess it's just more fun to read these things since they are not something we experience in everyday life and it's fun to live in a world where these things exist through reading.
Alice, you nailed it! More fun to read something that takes your mind away from the everyday routine!!! Have fun at the New Moon movie!!!
