Ok, so we all love vampires and with the Twilight saga complete and the movies coming out yearly, we need something to fill the void. How many of you have watched the True Blood show on HBO or read the books (the Sookie Stackhouse series)? I don't have HBO so I waited for the first season to come out on DVD then rented it and it was pretty awesome. I can't wait for the second season to come out so I can get caught up. While he's no Edward, vampire Bill is suave and mysterious and easy on the eyes as well. Sookie is played by Anna Paquin who I never used to like but this role is making me like her more. The books are enjoyable as well. They are an easy read as the Twilight saga is and they have a good storyline with plenty of twists and romance. If you haven't already, you may want to give the show and books a try!

I have been watching the Vampire Diaries.... I have to agree somewhat that the characters have a familiar storyline as Bella and Edward. last episode I almost thought they were going to quote something from the series and that would've made me mad! If it weren't for the Damon part of it and the flashbacks to earlier years I probably wouldn't like it. Until New Moon comes out it will have to be a cheap substitue. I did start reading New Moon again though to prepare for the Movie coming out, plus I like the book!
Did you ever catch the series Inhuman on the BBC over the summer??? I was starting to really get into that and then the season was over!
Not only the story is similar to that of Bella and Edward but they bare a strong physical resemblance as well. Stefan with his volumized, brushwed back, "I'm too cool for school" hair and Elena with her long dark hair and small frame. I realize the Vampire Diaries book came out before Twilight but I still can't help but feel like they were intentionally trying to make them resemble Edward and Bella in the show. I didn't read the V.D. book so I don't know how it describes them.

No I didn't see Inhuman. Is it a vampire show?
I really enjoyed the Sookie Stackhouse books after the Twilight Saga. The Southern Vampire novels are just like the GROWNUP version of Twilight. I cannot wait until May 2010 to find out what is going to happen to Sookie in the tenth installment.

I also really enjoyed the Mortal Instruments. A fourth Mortal Instruments book is due out in 2011 and Cassandra Clare is writing a prequel series set about 140 years before Clary's story with some crossover characters. Should be a great series!
I'm on the 3rd Sookie book and they're great. They are like the adult version of Twilight. I really like Eric in the books.

Has anyone heard when the 2nd season of True Blood is coming out on DVD? I am dying to watch it!
The fourth book is my favorite in the series so far... I can't wait to see what you think of it once you've finished.

The second season of True Blood starts out very strong, but then gets mired down in a weird twist of the Mary Anne story line. True Blood is definitely it's own series and not beholden to Charlaine Harris' plot.
I've noticed a lot of differences between the Sookie books and True Blood. In the 2nd book you meet Callisto, is this the same person as Mary Anne in the show? I heard that the 2nd season is more about Mary Anne than anything else but I'm still dying to see it. The first book basically encompassed the first season of the show. Is the 2nd book supposed to be the second season (with alterations of course)?
Season two is basically book two but with some huge changes. Mary Anne is Callisto but her role is expanded, a lot!! Jason's role is also really expanded as well. True Blood is often just lol funny, even when it is completely off from the books!
Jessie, I am about to finish the 4th book. I only have 40 pages left. I'm excited to see what is going to happen with Sookie and Eric and Jason. Eric has always been my favorite character so I liked that this one was so much about him.
I have been reading the Sookie books over the past month, I am up to Dead and Gone. I was curious about the show and since I do not have cable, I went to Hollywood video and rented the first season on dvd. My husband and I have been having a TrueBlood marathon this weekend. Friday night we watched episodes 1-4 and today we watched 5-7 so far and are getting ready to start 8-10 then have 11-12 for tomorrow. I didn't think my husband would want to watch it but he has been more anxious then me to see the next one now that we have started lol. Probably has something to do with all the adult content in the show.
I want to watch Season 2 of True blood but I don't have dish or cable. Anybody know of a good reliable site online where I can watch them?
I hear season two is coming out on DVD in May. That's not too much longer. I'm dying to watch it. It's fun having read the books first because then I think the characters mean more to you. I'm half way through book 7 now and I have no idea how closely the show will continue to follow the books.
Just saw an ad today for True Blood's new season. The werewolf thing looks interesting. I have not read the books yet!!
