I put Gonzo on a special diet of rice, chicken, sweet potato, and yogurt for a few days to get rid of his diarrhea. I slowly phased out the ingredients as they ran out. Yogurt was the last thing (plain flavor, gluten free). When I ran out of that, Gonzo refused to eat his plain dog food. I bought a sauce for dog food and he likes it ok, but it still takes a few sniffs for him to start eating.
Is yogurt ok to feed to a dog every day? I only added one tablespoon twice a day.
What sorts of things do you add to your dog food, and why?

When I first got Nick, he was around 21lbs and looked thin. I started him on 3/4 cup of kibble twice a day and the last few months cut him back to 1/2 cup twice a day when he reached 28lbs and he has been maintaining on that. He was a picky eater when not around my son's other dogs, so I started mixing a sprinkling of plain cheerios to his morning meal with a little warm water (enough so he could see them in the bowl). I usually give him some extra flavor in his evening meal by mixing in a tablespoon of broth or gravy from cooked leftovers (sometimes there may be a small bit or 2 of meat in it) , or 1/3 of the single-serving packet of the "Mixables" flavored kibble if I don't have something that is appropriate for him. His weight has maintained steady and he has never had any stomach problems or watery stools from his "extra flavoring" gravy. Treats are either a hard dog biscuit twice a day, or some cheerios thrown to him one at a time so he can keep in practice with his catching. He does so love his Cheerios! After reading some of the other posts, if he ever starts having stomach problems, I will try some yogurt or cottage cheese. If I have to give him medication, I usually wrap it into a thin strip of american cheese slice. I have tried giving him some raw veggies like green beans or carrots for a treat and some roughage, but he is not interested. GZ
Well what I add to to me little girl and boy's food will get a lot of flack , but here goes .

Cheese.
1 Kraft single per bowl when their mother is not looking .

You see , I used cheese singles to train and bribe my little lady Sadie for years with much success .
Now she only gets some when she plays nice with her little brother Rolo ,which is a rare event .
Rolo goes a little nuts for cheese just like his older sibling .
Their base diet is Blue buffalo dry food.A great food for special diets or if you have the money to indulge your little ones.
But they love their cheese !
Remmy has never been picky about what he eats... ever.

What kibble are you currently feeding? If you're open to trying a different brand, Merrick dry dog food just might do the trick. You can add water to the kibble and it makes its own gravy. Might up the palatability for Gonzo. :)
