This is going to be the first pure bred animal that I have ever had, and I was wondering if I should look into a pet insurance plan in case something should go wrong with the little fuzz ball :( Does anyone else here use a pet insurance plan, and would you recommend it? Thank you in advance for any thoughts on the subject or advice :)

Here you go :)
I've been looking into pet insurance, too. Søren is 12 weeks old now. He's already been sick with tummy issues, so I got worried about potentially expensive treatments. Luckily, it wasn't expensive. I read through the threads here about pet insurance and checked out the ones that seem popular. The plans seem to come in two categories. They are either cheap and only covers accidents or it's expensive and comprehensive. Doing the math, it seems like you have to have a lot of medical stuff going on for it to be worth it. But, maybe I'm grossly underestimating what my vet bills are going to be.

I was also considering putting the money I'd spend on premiums in a savings account to pay for medical stuff instead.
Thanks so much for the link to the previous threads :) Definitely sounds worth getting, and I will just need to do a little research on which I want to get!
In my opinion, per insurance is overpriced. I won't say it's a complete waste, but I still have some major reservations about forking over $50/month (I have 4 animals, so that would be about the cheapest I'd get away with. The biggest thing to know is that you still have to pay the full cost of treatment up front. That is truly the hard part insurance or no. Then, I've heard some awful stories of the companies denying reimbursement, or only approving a portion. And there are a lot of rules about what will be covered, it gets confusing.

Insurance itsnt worth it for me, I just put money in a jar each month, and if a bill goes beyond that I use Care Credit. I will say, however, if I were going to do insurance it would be with Pets Best. I like them the most.
I have both of my dogs on VPI Pet insurance. I have the premium plan that includes cancer and it runs me about $250.00 a year for each dog. It didnt take long for it to pay for itself. I highly recommend it. The sooner the better so you dont have pre-existing condition exclusions.
Yes I think I'm going to get it for Mochi very soon after we pick her up :) I can't purchase any yet because she isn't 8 weeks old, hehe. Thanks everyone for the replies :)
