OMG--I've found something that works to clean accidents on the rug

Well, maybe just on my terrible "Landlord-Special" fake berber carpet (read, flat, cheap, looppile carpet that stains if you even carry a glass of redwine or grapejuice near it, and the loops love to catch and pull on everything from high heels to corgi nails).

Those Clorox wipes are amazing for this.  They sanitize, as they've got bleach in them.  They get rid of any lingering odor in the carpet about as well as anything else, as they've got bleach in them.  They're sturdy, so you can really give the carpet a good rubbing.  They don't seem to pull color from the rug or bleach it (and I would guess if color were to be cheaply done and easy to remove from a carpet, it would be my carpet!).  They are flushable.  They are handy.  And they seem to take care of stains in a most remarkable fashion---no lingering brownish cast upstairs where I've been using them.  Downstairs, where we've used peroxide, vinegar, laundry detergent with enzymes, Capture, Resolve, Nature's Miracle, and baking soda, there are still discolorations.

Hope this helps any of you who are housebreaking, or just cleaning up the occasional vomit or accident or whathaveyou!

Hi Shannon, please don't take this the wrong way, I understand you've found what worked for you and you're excited to share this info with everyone else, but there are some misinformation, please don't take this personally.

1. Bleach should never be used to clean urine, mixing bleach and ammonia can release a small amount of chlorine gas. Chlorine is a powerful irritant that can inflict damage to the eyes, nose, throat and lungs. It was used in World War 1's chemical warfare (bertholite) and in the Iraq war. Dogs nose are 40 times more sensitive compared to human.

2. Clorox wipes are NOT flushable, dispose them in your trash only, it's printed on the label. Flushing down the toilet will pollute the water, wildlife and ourselves.

Stick with hydrogen peroxide and baking soda, if you look at most urine cleaning products out there, first ingredient is water, the 2nd or 3rd ingredient is always hydrogen peroxide, you can get a huge bottle for 96 cents at Walmart. I always keep 6 at home.
Maybe I should have clarified. It's not as if I soak up urine with the wipes, so there's really no danger of chlorine gas killing or maiming any of us. I put a giant pile of paper towels with something heavy on them to pull it out, for as many times as it takes. (with poop, I scoop it all up with toilet paper then flush it). Then, on what's left, I rub. The really miraculous part is with the poop, though. Peroxide didn't really work on poop stains, although I thought it might. Capture seems to be doing a nice enough job, but it doesn't have a nice smell to it.
I reccomend the enzyme cleaner called Pets and Kids. You'll know it because it comes in a big bottle with a yellow label that says BLOOD, DIARHEA, VOMIT. on it.
And yes, it also cleans all those things.
