So I briefly let my two dogs stay in the car so I can go get my daughter and darling Nikki steps on the door lock button with the keys in the ignition and extra keys in the car! Dreading the locksmith bill and cursing the dog I decide to see if we can get her excited enough to step on it again! With no results we try waving a hot dog outside the windshield and after a few minutes of her standing right by the Button I tried the door and it was unlocked! I learned my lesson and will take keys with me now!

omg this is sooo funny!
My Walker did the EXACT thing to me a month back, same scenario, I was going into daycare to get my daughter, left my car keys in the ignition, and yup, he locked it! I ran inside in a panic and begged the sitter for a hanger Because my spare key was 50 miles away with the hubbie, and as I am trying to manipulate the lock I decide to reach down and try the door (hanger was no use) and he had hit the button again (I assume while I was inside looking for a hanger) these darn corgis are pranksters aren't they ?!! :)
That's funny! Little rascals they are !

my dog has never locked me out of the car, but I had a German Shepherd years ago who had severe separation anxiety. i'd just adopted another pup (a mutt), and she seemed to have to pee at 2am, so i took her. as soon as i stepped outside the apartment door, i heard the GSD doing her "OMG-don't-leave-me" whine, then heard her jump up and start scratching the door...she scratched the deadbolt closed and locked me out of my apartment! it was 2am, i was in my pajamas, no car keys, no cell phone, no nothing! i would have been in for a VERY long night if i hadn't been able to sort of tease her (by calling her name) into doing it again and unlocking the door the same way...
Wow that is a worse scenario than mine lol! What a smart dog those sheppard are.
Cody goes everywhere on the ranch with me, usually because I have the air running and he is a sucker for air conditioning, I remember the only time he locked me out, I stepped out of the truck to open one of the ranch gates. I had the windows rolled down slightly, just enough so that I could reach my arm in and unlock the door just incase. He jumped on the side of the door as I closed it, locked the door and stepped on the power window and rolled it up. I stood outside for about fiften minutes, him enjoying the air conditioner me suffering in the heat, finally our hired man came looking for me and went to retrive the spare keys, we now own vehicles that have key less entry and always carry a walkie and the spare key!
