Hi Everyone,

I have a 1 1/2 year old corgi, happy healthy and FIT. He developed a condition about 5 months ago where he can only play for 5 to 10 minutes then he overheats (temp often reaching 105+) and he has collapsed on a few occasions. Wondering if anybody has ever seen or heard of this in their corgis or somebody they know of? We've done THOUSANDS of dollars in testss and have NO ANSWERS! I'd love to know of any thoughts if any of you have had experience with something like this.

Hi Melissa, have your vet already ruled out Malignant Hyperthermia?
part of malignant hyperthermia is an intolerance to anesthetic and he has done fine in all his procedures (has actually been under 3 times since he started having these issues). He also tends to have a decreased heart rate under anesthetic instead of increased so they don't think its MH. Good thought though! Thanks.
ic, was Frank's thyroid level within range? Repeated upper respiratory infection? Hypothalamic lesions or tumors?
There is an auto-immune condition that causes these kind of symptoms, but I can't remember right now what it is. It involves the thymus gland I believe. Let me do some research and I'll get back to you....
Myasthenia gravis is the name of the disease.....
he was tested for Myasthenia gravis and was negative, tested negative for Addison's Disease, blood tests all normal (he's had about 4 or 5 now), cardiac ultrasound was normal, DNA test for Excercise Induced Collapse (a condition most common in labs) was negative. He's never had any upper respiratory infections. I went to a new internist on Tuesday and she did muscle biopsies so we will see what happens with that. I was just wondering if ANYBODY has ever had this type of experience with their corgis?
