Hi all;
It is time for Milly to have her annual check up. However; I have been actively looking for a new vet in the Greater Toronto Area, preferably west Mississauga. My current vet has awesome hours but I am just not happy with his services and business manner. He particularly doesn't seem to know much about specific breeds of dogs but offers very general information. Does anyone have any suggestions?
The next question is about vaccines. We are now spending more time in cottage country and I was wondering if there are other vaccines I should be getting. Milly gets her rabies shot and something up her nose. The vet just said that's enough but no information about other vaccines. What do your dogs get annually? In the spring we have Revolution behind the neck every month for seven months for heart-worm, fleas, ticks, etc.
Thanks!

Hi Dana,
You are blessed with two Pennhip Certified Vets near you:
Dr Scott Hobson in Oakville
Dr Frank Badame in Mississauga
As far as vaccines goes, technically Ontario only requires rabies shot. However, you should let your vet know where you plan on taking Milly, for example, if you plan on boarding her, visiting dog parks, getting her groom, going to cottages...etc. Your vaccine requirement will be more. In my opinion, nothing really prevents adult ticks, we still physically inspect ours when we go camping / hiking up north.
My dogs are 7, so they only get rabies vaccine, unless we are on the road, they don't get Bordetella vaccine...etc.
