Should I get another Corgi as a companion for my present one?

Hello again! I rescued my Sidney back in July last year and he is well acclimated to my home but I have been thinking about rescuing another one. Problem is, Sidney is very territorial with my home and does not seem to like other dogs, even my parent's Choc. Lab. He growls and snarls even at dogs passing by my home. But I feel bad for him because he is by himself when I am at work and was hoping another Corgi would keep him company. Yet, his behavior with other pets is very discouraging, that I would not want him to fight with another dog in the house.

Maybe I worry too much and he's happy enough on his own when I'm away! He behaves when alone. What do you guys and gals think?

Thank you!

Very good article and made me re-think the situation. I think for now, he is content as the 'Main, top dog' of the home. I'm glad you guys are honest one here! Thank you!
rescuing another dog just to be buddies with your current dog is a terrible reason to get a second dog. Its a very common reason, and I myself was tempted to do it too, but you really have to think about your current dog and does he even WANT a buddy. We have a way of putting our human emotions onto our animals. Sounds to me like if you added another dog to the house he would be stressed and very unhappy, then think about the other dog who will be constantly getting beat up on. I think in this situation it would be a very bad idea to add a second dog just for Sidney's sake. If you browse some of the current topics on the main page there are 2 or 3 about adding a second dog. Gives you lots of food for thought.
Thanks for the advice and its true about human emotions getting in the way. And I wouldn't want the other dog to get hurt by Sidney, then I would feel extra bad for bringing them into it!
