How often do females come into heat and usually how far apart are their cycles?  Molly was in heat in November.  I woke up this morning to spots of blood on the bedspread and she is the only one that sleeps with me and the only unfixed female I have.  I haven't noticed her dripping yet when she is walking around and their was no spots in her crate when she got done eating?  Could it be something else?

I have always heard that they can go into heat up to 4 times a year.

Typically normal heat cycles are every 6-8 months but some go every 10 months or once a year...it is not totally uncommon for a female to have her first heat at 8 months old and then come into heat again within 4 months. Some of those heats can not be true heats but you do run a higher risk of infections. How old is she and if came into heat in November why not have her spayed by now? Do you intend to breed her? If not it is highly suggested after this cycle..wait a month and get her in for a spaying. I had one female do this and is why she got pulled from showing to be bred to make sure she didn't get an infection or have her system shut down to where we would never get her bred. So far after her litter she is on schedule going every 6 months so far. Make sure that spotting blood is clean, dark, and not tomato soup looking, bright, nor any pus...if so could be an infection and if let go can be life threatening.
