Skin problem

O.k my corgi Toby is has some sort of skin problem on his nose and inside is ears. Its kind of scabby it doesn't seem to bother him but i took him to the vet to get it checked out.. the vet was no help.. she took some skin samples to see if i was mange and she confirmed that it was not that. So she took a few more skin samples and said she would test them for ringworm's and to bring him back in ten days to see the results, she also gave me some pills to give him, they seem to work a little bit but its still red and scabby on his nose not so much on his ears anymore. Does anybody know what this can be?

Matt,
I have a dog that started out with something that looked similar. There are lots of different skin issues that dogs can get, and ring worm is one that is usually tested right away.. I would ask them to test for Dermatomyositis, which is what my dog Gus has. I loaded a photo of Dillon and gus when i set up my membership, so hopefully you can look at that photo t osee Gus ( who is the dog on the left. he was initially misdiagnosed by his previous owner with Pemphigus which is an autoimmune disorder however i took him to a dermatologist specialist and had them work him up, and after a lot of money and testing , it was determined he has dermatomyositis. He is on one medication for this condition called Trental.

You said the skin looked scaley - are there areas that get weepy or scabby? I would see if you can find a dermatology specialist to look at him if the ring worm test comes out negative...and i would see if they mention this dermatomyocitis. by the way, what part of the country do you live? If you are in my neck of the woods i can recommend someone.
