MARK YOUR CALENDERS!!!
2014 WI Corgi Picnic has been set for September 13, 1-5 p.m. at the Jefferson County Dog Park!!!
Also, some additional exciting news:
FaerieLand Corgi Rescue will be ON-SITE with Rescue Dogs!! So if you are interested in adopting, or know anybody who is looking to add a Corgi into their life, feel free to come and meet some dogs in need of a home!! In addition, if you have any old sheets, blankets or towels that you are looking to throw away, we are asking you to bring them along as a donation to FaerieLand.
As in previous years, we will be holding our Raffle For Rescue. Tickets will be 1 ticket = $1 or 6 tickets = $5. There will also be a special $5 Raffle Item up for auction.
Corgi Breeders as well as dog trainers will also be on site.
Cost is $5 per dog--paid to the Jefferson County Parks Department and we are asking people to bring a dish to pass. Also, we will have some chairs available, but you may want to bring a chair just in case.
I am also looking for people to show up early to help set-up and stay after to help tear down. We are also asking that if anyone has an extra pop-up tent if they could bring it along for shade.
I will be posting a .JPG of our flyer, feel free to print out some copies and place them around your local pet stores, dog parks and vet clinics!
Can't wait!!!

We are looking forward to meeting others from your area with Corgi's. We will be driving up from the Champaign-Urbana, Illinois area.
Yes, that was me. I had planned to contact you sometime during the spring to pick it up, unfortunately things just did not work out (truck breaking down and health issues). I apologize!! If anyone can get it to the picnic, I can get it home from there.
I was in contact with someone last year about a large, heavy table we'd be willing to donate but we don't have a truck to put it in. It's not pretty, but it's a big, long, sturdy table with folding legs that my dad or uncle cobbled together ages ago for outdoor/basement parties. It weighs a ton, however. We are looking to get rid of it so if anyone has a truck to pick it up and take it to the picnic (& and home with them!) it's theirs for the taking. We live near the airport in Milwaukee. Work has been so crazy lately that I have forgotten to post about it before now. If no one takes it this round, it's going to the first charity that calls for donations. I can't remember the name of the woman who said she'd take it last year, but it didn't come to fruition.
I have had several people ask me about food, what to bring, how many people. I can't honestly say how many people will be in attendance this year, but from previous picnics there is always a huge spread of food, so I recommend planing a dish for 20 people to save from tons of leftovers.
If you know what you are bringing, please feel free to leave a comment on this post, and I will also be updating it as I hear from the non-MyCorgi friends.
Thanks!!
1 WEEK TO GO!!!!!!
I hope everyone is as excited as I am for this years picnic!! I have just a few notes and reminders for everyone.
I keep checking the weather and it so far it looks like it is going to be a GORGEOUS day!! 60s and sunny!! At this point I am not sure if I will be bring along my doggie pool, but just in case, I recommend you bring a long a towel just in case if your Corgi is a water-baby.
I am still needing a few people willing to come early and stay late for set-up and tear-down. The picnic starts at 1:00 and I plan to be there around 11:00-11:30. I will have tables, raffle, food and EZ ups to put up. Also, if anyone has an additional EZ up they can bring along it would be greatly appreciated!!
There is no electricity at the park, so if you are planning on bringing a hot dish, please package it accordingly. There will be an ice table, but space will be limited. Drinks will also be provided.
I will have some chairs available, but you may wish to bring your own just in case.
Please be mindful of items left on the ground. They can be easy targets for little leg hikers to pee on!! Also, if you see poop, please scoop--even if it is not your dog! The park has poop bags provided near the gate to the enclosure and I will also have some rolls scattered throughout the area.
X-Pens will be provided along the sides of the picnic area (still within the enclosure), they are there for dogs who may need a break. Like kids, sometimes they can become too excited and forget their manners and may need a 10 minute break to relax a bit. We also have a certified dog trainer and several breeders in attendance to keep an eye on things. If you are asked to give your dog a break, please do not become upset. We will not ask you to leave. If you would like to continue to enjoy the picnic you may use the X-Pens, or may leash your dog. If you see your dog in the X-Pen it simply means we couldn't find you. Again, PLEASE DO NOT BECOME UPSET, it really isn't that big of a deal. When you have 40+ dogs running together sometimes arguments and disagreements can happen. We have yet to have any escalated incidents or all-out fights and I would like to keep it that way.
If anyone has any dog treats they would like to share, there will be a special table just for that!! I will also be bringing some toys along--balls, Frisbees, and a chuck-it.
Can't wait to see everyone there!!!
The Corgi Picnic is right around the corner!! I have a couple of requests to make. I currently have 3 EZ ups being brought, if you have one and would like to bring it, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, I am looking for people who would be willing to come early to help set up and people to stay late to help tear down. Please let me know by replying to this post.
Thanks for those links!! If you go to the first one and click on the Dog Park Map, we will be in Area #4 Small Dogs on the right side.
Happy Sunday Everyone!! We are just about 4 months away from the WI Corgi Picnic! Myself and Vicky Hyde have been hard at work with the Raffle and have had several packages come from out of state from several people AND businesses wishing to donate. If anyone has ANYTHING (and it does not have to be Corgi or dog related) they wish to donate please free to contact myself or Vicky Hyde on Facebook, MyCorgi or e-mail at corgi97@AOL.com with the subject line Corgi Picnic. We will take ANY items, big or small (we have both a $1 and a $5 Raffle this year). All items donated will go into the Raffle For Rescues and ALL money will go to help Corgis in need!
As you do your Spring Cleaning please be sure to hang onto any old towels, blankets or bedding you no longer need and bring them to the picnic with you. We are collecting them for FaerieLand Rescue who will be ON SITE with Corgis looking for their Forever home. So if you know anyone who is looking for their first best friend or looking to add a new one to their pack, be sure to bring them along!!!
Also, feel free to print out our flyer and spread the word that the Cheesehead Corgis Are Coming!!
