If you are a member of the dog park, they send E-mail newsletters.
To be a dog park member I think it was $36 for the first dog and $8 for the second. I know I paid a total of $44 for my two Corgis. If you are a member, you can go to both the Champaign and Urbana dog parks for a year. Non-members must pay $5 per dog per visit to the dog park. You might tell your son to sign up before CORGI-CON. He will be able to use these parks for the rest of the year and will not have to pay the $5 to get into the park on May 18.
I didn't realize there was such a newsletter. How does one sign up for that?
Just got the Urbana Dog Park Newsletter. They included CORGI-CON.
That will spread the word to the local Corgis.
Sorry the flyer was taken, but hopefully it will be someone bringing their Corgi to the event. Great that the vet staff was keeping Corgi families informed.
I got a call from my vet's office today. A Corgi came in for a check up and when the staff tried to show the family the flyer I put on the bulletin board, it was gone. We assume someone was planning on attending CORGI-CON and just took the flyer with them. The staff called me to give the Corgi family the details for CORGI-CON over the phone. I then drove over to the vet's office and dropped off several flyers. Loved that the vet staff was spreading the word!
That is super, Stephanie! Thanks.
It is good to know that the employees are spreading the word.
About distributing flyers. This week, prior to hearing from you about your flyer, I gave one that I had printed up which had all of your information about the event, to the manager at Petsmart. She had advised me, too, that they did not have a regular bulletin board anymore. Only for lost and found. She took my flyer, however, and said she would post it in their break room. The thought was that if the employees saw it, whenever they saw someone with a Corgi, they might mention the event to them.
When my son, Kevin, was in the store Sunday, someone saw him with his Corgi and they told him about the event. He told them he was aware of it, planned to attend, and hoped they would continue to spread the word.
Last year I stopped the car to invite a woman to CORGI-CON. She was walking a cute red and white PEM, so I thought she might like to join us. Unfortunately, I think I frightened her. She did not speak English and I think she thought I was after her dog. LOL
Last year I also took the E-mails of everyone that attended CORGI-CON 2012. I made it optional, but everyone there gave me their E-mail. I sent them all a flyer for this year's event.
Did you want to give me your E-mail? Then I will send you a flyer. You can send your address directly to CORGICON@yahoo.com if you wish. It is the address I set up just for the event, so I do not check it everyday. If I know you are going to send it I will make a point of checking it.
As we were driving down the street yesterday, we saw a lady walking her Corgi. We called out to tell her hello and to let her know about the upcoming CorgiCon. She said she already knew about it and plans to attend. That she had attended the event last year and was looking forward to the one this year.
I have no problem with posting flyers.
Last year Petsmart told me they could not post flyers for events. I did put one at Prairieland Feeds in 2012. Then when I surveyed the crowed no one saw that. I found out most people saw it in the newspaper, heard it on TV, or saw it online. A couple people saw it at the U of I Vet Med School and one saw it at my vet's office.
This year I posted it on all the TV stations, the News Gazette, and here on MyCorgi. I also sent one to my contact at the U of I Vet School and my vet's office. AND the park district said they would post it as well.
If you want to post it somewhere else that is fine, but I would prefer you use the flyer I already have made up since it was approved by the park district. I don't want to cause any problems with the Urbana Park District people. I can send you a copy of the flyer in an E-mail if you wish.
