This is a minor problem, but Gus gets this dark gray stain on his fur from where his tags rub against him. It bugs me because his chest is so white and handsome otherwise! Anyone have a solution for this?
Are the tags metal?...metal could do that. Plastic may be an option. If metal, perhaps dog tag silencers...something like on this site http://www.phloyds.com/pettag/silencers.html
should prevent the edges from rubbing.
I think a previous post also mentioned using clear nail polish to keep them from staining. I will try that and post the results. Haven't had a problem with the dark color from Lucy's tag yet though.
My dog Radar has the same problem on his white neck - totally gray and terrible looking.
Unfortunately the BoomerangTags are not able to replace the required town dog license tag and that has to be replaced every year - it seems the newer the license the darker the gray. Washing the fur helps but only for a week or so.
Yes, that's my problem too. I don't want to let him go without his license on just in case something were to happen. Maybe I'll try the nail polish suggestion!
