i brush neeka outside everyday, and she always trys to eat her fur i have brushed off a couple of times she has gotten a mouthful and swallowed quickly. even if she sheds on the couch she will try to lick it off...alot of people brush their dogs in the dog park so there is always places with fur and she never tries to eat that just her own...is this just some weird quirk or does this indicate anything? (like i know if they eat their poo it can mean they aren't getting enough nutrients) anyones corgi do this?

Spencer likes eating his fur too...we brush him outside and before I can scoop up the hair, he's eating it...hopefully he will grow out of this!
Yeah Izzie was eating Lily's fur whenever I was brushing her. She actually thought it was a toy so she picked it up in her mouth and started running around the kitchen like it was a prize... :)
Yes Molly will do this too, and she thinks it's some kind of prize. She doesn't devour it though, so it's not been a problem. I guess it's just a corgi quirk.
chloe eats her fur when i brush her too, and if the wind catches it just right she will even chase it down. it isn't something they seem to outgrow, or at least chloe hasn't, she's now 2 yrs old adn still does it from time to time. i just really try to keep an eye on where her hair is flying and try to catch her before she gets a mouthful.
Just the other day I saw Lance take a bite out his tail, he had a mouthful of fur--Yikes! That is the first time I actually saw him grab a chunck of fur, usually he just chews at it! His poor tail, if he would just leave it alone it could be beautiful, but it likes to bite at it. :(
My Theo tries to eat his fur when I brush him too! I pull out the big clumps out of the comb and make a little ball and stick it behind my back when I'm brushing him. If he can't see it, he's not as tempted. Unfortunately, he sometimes still manages to grab a mouthful of it. Hehe. He tries to chew it, so I can usually get it back out of his mouth before he swallows it. I've never seen him try and eat a clump of fur that had just normally collected on the floor though.
Charlie eats his flying fur bundles too if I don't pick all of them up. I've also been taking the cats outside on the patio to get brushed since they're in a major shed right now. Charlie will eat kitty fuzzballs as well. In fact I think he prefers them to his own "flavor". Yucky.
Our Corgi does the same thing! He is 2 years old and he loves to lick hair off the couch, rugs, floors, and outside on the deck. As others have mentioned, when we brush him outside, and the wind catches the hair, he'll go after it!
It's funny to watch, but we try to make sure he doesn't gulp down too much of it :)

Must certainly be a Corgi trait. Strange huh?
