To start on a positive note, Becca is doing fabulous. She is very smart and eager to please. Small things just keep popping up. She HATES being restrained. I am having a hard time checking her for ticks when we get back from walks.(They are horrible this year.) I use Frontline, but don't want them to migrate to me or the cat. She freaks out and jumps away when I try to hold her and get a closer look, or check her belly. How do I work around this and still find any ticks?
She was pretty much successful out of her crate, into two rooms, while I was at work this week. She chewed a few things pen, plastic dish, shredded a paperback, but overall it was doable. I think the cat knocked those items down to the floor playing gravity and looking for things to play with. Which brings up problem number two. The cat wants her toys back and is creating new ones. I picked up all the cat toys when I puppy proofed. Mokey has the ability to open every cupboard and many of the drawers in the house. She only creates havoc when she is bored, and she is bored. She figured out how to open my dresser this week. Anyway, how those of you with cats deal with small cat toys?

Mine loved the little cat toys, too. Although they eventually pretty much grew out of it. I couldn't keep the cat toys away because the cats would always bring them back so I just sort of went with the flow. The corgs don't bother much with them anymore.
With the ticks, does she like being combed? Perhaps combing her (with some treats liberally sprinked in) might help?
In combing, I meant with one of those flea comb things...would get out the ticks and maybe help her get used to being handled and stuff.
When mine were pups some stuff got shredded but not much, really. One thing that was nearly destroyed is Cesar Milan's book "Be the Leader of the Pack" or something like that...can't remember the title off the top of my head. Annie had a penchant for eyeglasses (that was expensive!) but no more. Teri ate a bit of drywall but only once. Paper is still a favorite!!!! And Annie loves pens but I've gotten pretty good of keeping them out of her reach now.
I'm not sure how well a flea comb will go over. I've gotten grooming to a point where I can brush her for up to 5 minutes, if treats are included. I'll try it later today. We just got back from her walk. I found two ticks on her while walking. White feet actually are helpful for that, mud not so much.
Did you have choking concerns with the cat toys? I have to be careful with my cat toys anyway because my cat is a chewer and will eat some of them. It is pretty bad when the cat is the one to destroy shoes...
I have a cat that opens drawers, medicine cabinets, and cupboards in his endless quest for q-tips and rubber bands so I know how you feel. You may have to confine the cat in a room while you are gone for a while, eventually things will settle down. As for the restraining, usually the best way to correct that is to start slow by spreading some chicken pieces or buger (something very high valued) around for her to eat while you are feeling her all over. Short time periods at first, gradually moving to just a treat after.
