I've heard if a dog arches his back, he is either looking to use the restroom, or in pain... but Ein does this almost every time he wakes up.

Is the floor causing him pain? He gets up, and arches his back... looking kind of like a scared cat... or like the typical Halloween cat image.

If I get a chance, I'll take a picture of it. He sometimes even takes a few steps while stretched like that.

Anyway, does your dog do the back arching thing?

(I know that lots of corgis do the bow and the yawning and the rolling around in the morning. Ein does that too, but it's the arching thing that confuses me lol.)

Thanks!

He's just stretching, nothing to worry about.

All three of mine stretch like this from time to time. My eldest does it more than the youngins do.

He's just stretching; all dogs do that. I guess it looks a little more weird when corgis have such long bodies :P

He's just stretching, no biggie. Corgis are master stretchers I have found with Franklin lol. He does all his yoga poses in the morning and follows up with a good roll and baroooooo

LOL @ Melissa:)))  And yes, Miles stretches like this too.

I agree, just stretching and Wynn has to add a few words while he does this:)

Tomahawk does this every morning as well. I always figured he was just stretching since he goes through this whole yoga routine every time he wakes up. It's super cute, I have been trying to see if I can train him to do this for a treat.

He's just getting a good stretch... my boyfriend and I love it when ours does the "cat back" stretch :) it reminds me of an inch worm lol
