chewy poop in her bed, stepped & roll all over it! frustrated!

Chewy is now 9month old.  she pees and poo's outside, usually she's really good holding it until we let her out.  if she can't hold, she'll go next to her pad (not on her pad but next to it!) uhh... she use to pee & poo on the pad when she was younger but i don't know why for some reason she doesnt like using her pad now.  so, today instead of using her 3clean pad, she decided to poo in her bed!  i dont know why she is doing this.  It's her first time showing this kind of behavior.  it's hard for me to catch her in the action cuz i'm not home during the day. usually she's really good at holding or at least peeing next to the pad. This time she gone Crazy! has anybody have similar experience? HELP!  when does corgi usually (fully) potty trained by? 1yrs old?  so, she poo on her bed, stepped and lay on it. she has poo all over her!

been there done that. wish i had some answers for you.
What kind of setup do you have for her? Do you put her pad near her bed? If so, she feels like her bed is fair game. She needs to have an enclosed area with her bed and her water bowl at one end and pads (or a litterbox, or a doggy toilet made of grass, etc.) as far away at the other end as possible. That will trigger her instinct to keep her waste away from her sleeping and eating area.

In terms of when she can be trusted, it depends on how long you're gone. I don't expect the adult dogs to go more than six or seven hours, and the puppies maybe four or five once they're six months old. If you're gone nine or ten hours, she'll probably always need an acceptable toileting area in the house.
Thank you for your reply. Her crate is very large but we use a divider. So her bed area is small. This does make the area in the pet yard equally small. I am thinking of putting a smaller crate or pet porter in there so she has her potty area farther away.
I've got my fingers crossed. Since I wrote the original post she has not pooped in her crate in about 3 days.
I still think that you are right and the pads need to be further away.
Oh and let me add, girls HARDeR THAN BOYS! I'm starting to think it's their "okay with eating poo with puppies" thing - so it's not as big of an issue. But that's just my theory.
Mya was doing great and now we are having the same problem. We have a pet yard and a crate placed in the pet yard. So she has a place to sleep and then pads in the pet yard for when she can't hold it. The last 3 mornings we have gotten up and the pad is clean but she has pooped in the crate. We are confused also as she has always used the pad and kept her crate clean.
It only happens at night. I also would welcome any suggestions. She is 3 1/2 months old and we are not sure when we can expect her to quit having accidents in the house!
Hi Stella. Housebreaking can be so frustrating can't it? I never tried the pads. I used a small crate. Just about as long as my puppy. Big enough for her to lay down and turn around. Seems small but that is what it takes to break them. My Sadie was peeing in her crate until I put her in a smaller crate. I talked to my vet and she recommended it. If she pottied on the carpet or floor, regardless of if I caught her or not, I would say "Oh no! Oh Sadie...that's bad!" In a low voice but let her know I wasn't pleased. She caught on VERY quickly. The crate pottying stopped immediately. The floor pottying took about a week and then she started barking at the back door to go out. I went from thinking she would never housebreak to thinking she was a genius! LOL! You can teach Chewy. Talk to your vet. Google and read everything you can find on housebreaking. You will find some very good ideas out there and something that will work for you.

I am in the process of housebreaking again. I just got a 3 month old Fluffy male, Joey. He has the small crate Sadie started with. He hasn't pottied in it at all. He does potty on the carpet a lot and we are working on that :) Oh Lord. Here we go again LOL! I have only had him a week and a half. He will get it and Chewy will too. Good luck to you!
