My Darling Ellie turns One this week and I have invited her best friends ( a beagle and a sheltie the same age as her) and their owners over for a birthday party!.....Couldn't help myself!

Any ideas of some fun I can plan for the four legged guests..and the birthday girl?

Oh how fun! A pumpkin dessert or frozen yogurt treat might be a great treat for the doggies! There's some treat discussions on some fun food! you could also make some peanut butter doogie treats for them to take home. Have a great time!
I'm having a birthday party today for Luna, so I know how head-scratching it is. For the dogs I have a cake, ice cream, and a cookie to take home each. I also have munchies for the humans.

As for time - I limited it to a 2-hour window. It's going to be in my home, so making sure they have access to potty areas is key, as well as putting away anything another dog may destroy. I think with having their friends over, it may be entertainment enough - have some toys (like balls, not something you're going to have to clean up stuffing for) to play with.

My concern is entertaining the humans.... The dogs, especially corgis, will always find a way to be entertained.
What I usually do for a cake is make one that both humans and dogs can eat. It's usually a homemade pound cake with fresh whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. Not the healthiest for humans or dogs, but everyone loves it. I think just playing outside will be enough entertainment for the dogs. Sometimes I've seen people do hot dog hunts (hot dogs hidden around the yard) or bobbing for hotdogs in a kiddie pool. Maybe get a few party favor bags which have small toys and biscuits in them for the dogs to use while playing outside. If the dogs like to shred, you could fill a paper pinata with biscuits and hang it from a tree low to the ground for them to jump up and open.

I don't know if it's possible, but one of those little swimmie pools might be enjoyed by all three?  Messy, though, but fun.  A treasure hunt for treats?  A game of frisbee for the humans and pooches?  Doggie massages?

Ooops, I see Kodiak already suggested the treasure hunt thing....using weenies is a great idea!

First get the camera ready!!!! And plenty of ballons and b'day hats. Peanut butter is a must.

I made these "pupcakes" for the dog's birthdays this year, they were a big hit.

What awesome ideas! Was filling the wading pool full of sand and burying treats and was hoping to make a cake. Thanks for your responses! Will post pics:-)
