Corgi question #2: Does anyone else's corgi have any of these odd behaviors concerning water?

  • flicking water from his water bowl into his dry dogfood (and the kitchen floor)
  • "pulling over" on walks whenever we pass a stream, just to wade in and get his belly wet
  • lying down in mud like a hog

We think that part of Dewey's attraction to water is that he seems to hate hot weather. We've only had him for a year, but noticed a marked difference in his behavior during hot weather - much more lethargic. I guess that's to be expected, but our previous dog was a golden retreiver and she didn't seem to deflate during the summer like Dewey does. I guess Wales has a much colder climate than Georgia!

My Buffy, who is gone now, loved water of any kind. It did not matter if it was a black, swampy mud puddle or a nice clean lake...she was in it! I wish I had gotten a picture of her covered in black mud, it was pretty funny.
