My dog Dee Dee has been wearing e-collar for almost a month. now. When we picker her up from a kennel after Thanksgiving, we noticed she was trying to scratch her right eye. We put the collar on immediately, hoping it would go away. Nope. So we took her to the vet next day, and sure enough. She has Corneal Ulcer.

She was put on eye drop called Cipro, but it didn't help much, but irritate her eye quite a bit. So they switched to Gentamicin Sulfate. Still didn't get better, so we were referred to the Opthtalmologist. He performed Grid Procedure where he makes grids in her eye by using small (thin) needle after numbing the eye. She is starting to look better, but just feel bad that her mobility is limited by this big-o collar around her head.

She also had another Corneal Ulceration a few years ago, on left eye that time. Back then, the eye drops and ointment didn't heal, so she had a Grid Procedure done too. So this time makes it the second time around for her.

So, here's my question. Is there any other Corgis that suffer from hard-to-heal Corneal Ulceration? Is it that common in Corgis??

Oh poor DeeDee...I don't have an answer to your question but I hope she's feeling better soon and the collar can come off!
We tried the comfort collar first, but since Corgis are so short & close to the ground, Dee Dee kept tripping on it. Soon, it started to fall apart. I'm sure she was more comfortable, but that soft collar was not designed by someone with shorty like Corgis. :( Sadly, she is getting used to plastic e-collar now that she's been wearing it so long...
