Hi, I noticed recently that my ~12 week old cardi puppy Luke has this small grey patch on the back of his neck. Is it possible he could be a "cryptic merle"? He does have one blue eye on the same side as well. I've tried to do some research on it and it doesn't seem to be very common in corgis, but I'm not sure what else would cause the change in color in just that one spot. I did find a place that does a DNA test for the merle gene but that seems a little excessive just for my own curiousity. Any thoughts?

Dont' know about cardis but my 9 month tri pem has developed the same type of graying. I assumed it was just that his coat is changing as he matures. He's also getting more white on his "pants" and the tan on his sides is getting larger. Mine has this graying on both side of his neck, same white and black ruff.
that is the tri colored pups getting their true patterns'red and sables will also change patterns/colors until mature.always fun to guess just what they'llactually end up looking like!!
Seems like Sam posted a while back on a similar question that pups have to "turn over" their coats 2x before their colors are stablized. I think that means 2 years....

I looked at Ben again today and he has this type of speckled, ticked, graying hair interspersed on both sides of his neck, behind the ears and along his white collar. Check your pups haunches, too, and you may find the beginnings of the same thing there.

Not sure it's to do with merle rather than just tri color changes.
