It seems that Tomahawk just LOVES to make me worry!

For the past 3 days he has had diarrhea. He is eating, drinking and being his old silly self, but just can't seem to produce a normal stool.

I've tried a 24 hr fast and feeding him a bland diet, and it seemed to clear up his poop issues on the second day, but now he has the watery stools again. I don't know what's going on but it's really causing me to lose my hair from all the worrying. As he is doing his business, he pushes out what seems to be a normal stool, but tops it off with a nice dose of watery poop. I know this is gross, but I have to be as detailed as I can!

I can't figure out whether he ate something he shouldn't since I have a near constant 24 eye on him. I keep wondering if it's his food, but he has been eating the same TOTW bag for the past 2 weeks and hadn't had any problems before.

Should I just suck it up and realize I can't clear it up on my own and take him to the vet? I've read that acute diarrhea can be a natural way to balance out his digestive system and that sometimes it can take a week to end but I don't know just how accurate that information is. He's had issues with this before on several occasions, but I was always able to kick it in the butt after a day.

Do any of you have any suggestions? I know peptobismol  can help, but I'm afraid to try it since I keep finding different dosage amounts and don't want to end up causing more problems.

Sometimes I swear I want to kick him across the room lol ( Of course I never will)!

Hi Sonya, it does sounds like his food was the culprit, bag the remaining portion and return it to the store, did you check the lot number? Make sure it was not from the recall list.

"Sometimes I swear I want to kick him across the room lol ( Of course I never will)!"....lmao...Sam said it already...hopefully you don't have a bag from the recall list.

No, it looks like my batch wasn't affected by the recall list. He has used the restroom again, and everything SEEMS back to normal. I think I will feed him his food once more, and if I see any changes during another restroom break, I will just have to go and return the food or at least dispose of it.

Thank you all for the replies, it's a good thing Mycorgi exists!

Did you just start TOTW  2 weeks ago and if you did ...did you mix his old food with the new gradually increasing the new over about 10 days? Mine are touchy when introducing new foods.

Drop off a fecal sample at your vet. Go back to the bland diet and feed it for 2 to 3 days past when his stool is normal then slowly reintroduce kibble over a couple days. Its probably not his food if he was ok for a week or two before this started. Sometimes you need to just reset the go tract with bland food for several days to get things back in balance or he may have picked up giardia or coccidia on an outing

Chuckie does the exact same thing.  It seems normal and then the last few are liquidy drops. It's funny because it varies throughout the day. In the morning I could expect solid stool, in the afternoon with surprise liquid drops, and then at night anything goes.

Eh, I've just learned to take it and be thankful that at least he's pooping at all.  I feed him Wellness Super5, and I've also noticed that with Wellness he poops more often! I don't know if that is a good sign or not.
