I am an absolute mess, and I am going to be late to work, but right now I really don't care. My mom just called me from back home to tell me my first Corgi i got when I was 9 years old is being put down today due to diabetes that went undiagnosed until she lost 10lbs and was in kidney failure. I'm so upset and a wreck, I can't stop shaking and crying. She was my first baby.
I don't really know what else to say.. I just really wanted to say something here, I need support. I can't believe this is really happening... I want to go home and see her before they put her down SO bad but it's only about an hour until the rest of my family gets to teh vets office and all.
ughhh I'm dying inside.

:'(

That's one of those great things about Corgis...they sence when we need them the most!!!
We are so sorry. She will always be in your heart, and make you smile when you least expect it.
I'm so sorry for your loss. It sounds like Dinky was one-of-a-kind. Letting her live out her life on the ranch was very selfless... and it seems like she had a great, fulfilling life surrounded by people who loved her! I only wish everyone could do as much for their pets. My advice is to let yourself grieve. Don't let anybody tell you "it was just a dog." To you, Dinky was a special, cherished friend, and as such, your grief for her loss is completely understandable. Do your best to try to remember all of the things about her that made her so special - which it looks like you're already doing. She was a blessing to you - I always think of my childhood dog very fondly, too. How lucky you were to have grown up with such an amazing girl.
I am so terribly sorry, and I wish I could give you a hug. I know it does not help too much, but if you can, you can take some of her fur and have it placed in a locket so you can keep part of her.
I am sooo sorry! It is so hard to lose a loved one. I put my corgi mix and best friend down over 2 years ago, and I still think of him every day--although I don't cry as much now as I did. Sometimes, as hard as it is, the best thing to do is end their suffering. Kidney failure hurts. Just remember the good times you had, and that you gave them a good life. It gets much easier as time goes on to remember all the good times that will make you smile. I keep a picture of Dillon by my bed, and have his ashes. I do believe you will see them again someday....
It's been a hard weekend back home, I got another call this morning with my mom crying. Her most precious horse died of Colic last night. He was only 11 years old. Really heartbreaking. She does therapy work with this horse, scooter. Because of this they had a photoshoot a couple weeks ago with him, and the photographer sent me some candids of photos of dinky she took....

This is my favorite attached.

My mom and I are comforting each other as much as we can, it's been such a hard week. Animals dying hurts more than most people understand. They get in our hearts so much deeper than most humans do. They understand us in ways that no one else seems to at times... tough times when they leave.

I do agree we will meet all our animal friends again, but it doesn't make it much easier when they have to leave us so soon...

<3 thanks to everyone, again, who has said such nice comforting things here. It's helped a lot.
