Dog beds

Does anyone here have any experience with Kuranda beds? A humane society around here is using them for their dogs and I don't know if I'd buy one but I think I could make one! They keep dogs off the ground which is important and I like the idea of being able to make the size I need.

Don't have this brand but have something similar. It's a metal frame bed about the same height off the ground with a mesh like fabric for the dog to lay on. It was $25 and I got it from ALDI, the whole thing is held together with 4 screws. Potus is a keen chewer and has chewed the fabric at the corners but it's holding up well- he's moved on to chewing other things.

Wow, what a deal...these beds are about $80 or so but they also have the metal frames for the "chewers"!

ALDI is always good for a deal- you just have to keep an eye on their catalogues because they only stock special items for a limited time. We also got Po a chew rope from there that was made of stretchy fabric pieces. It was great because when he chews rope he gets little stringy pieces everywhere, but with the fabric rope he left big, easy to pick up pieces and for a few times after he had pulled it apart I could put a somewhat sadder looking version back together again. And only $8.

First of all it depends on where your dog sleeps. Dogs in shelters often have a cement floor which is very bad for joints and then depending on the weather can be very cold. This gives them a bed off the ground and away from the hard floor. Dogs don't need beds but mine at home like them and I do so they have a place that is theirs at least at night. The other thing brought up here was that air flows under the bed and I think for summer that would be great as mine are restless when it's hot out and move a fair amount trying to find a cooler place. Hope this makes sense!
