Fluffies ARE excruciatingly cute, but particularly if you like to spend time outdoors, do think about why it's considered a fault.  These low-to-the-ground dogs bring half the trail home in their belly fur even with a normal coat.  Is Camarillo very hot?  Do fluffs do better or worse in hot climates (I've not idea)?

I think at least some serious breeders might be actively trying to avoid fluffies.  There is a DNA test for the fluffy allele (I think).  But fluffies might be unavoidable "mistakes" for all I know (not much); maybe fluffy carriers have better coats, or the allele is tightly linked to some other valuable trait, and so persists.

Talk to breeders, put the word out that you're looking for a fluff, and one may come your way.  Find out if the better breeders try to avoid fluffs... in which case, you might be selecting for not-so-good breeders. ??? Just speculating, I don't know.

Consider that other traits may be more important.  Our breeder didn't even let us pick our pup.  She picked Al for us (good call).  She claims she can do a certain amount of matchmaking based on her evaluation of the pups' personalities.  What if you're hooked on, say, a tri, and the perfect match for you gets missed because it happens to be another color?

Yes, there is a DNA test for the fluff gene.  Not sure how many breeders are breeding away from it and how many find it an acceptable risk;  my guess would be it's something they look at as part of the "big picture."

Jessica, you may also want to contact any relatively local corgi rescue groups.  My Nimh is a super fluff that was put up for adoption through his breeder who'd contacted a rescue group to help home him.  John's right, fluffs are just too cute but the fluffy hair does take more work than my other two corgs.  It picks up everything!!!!  But, he is so handsome.

Reputable breeders don't breed specifically for fluffies since they are considered a breed fault. I think the best way to go about it is to just inquire with a few good breeders in your area and ask that they contact you if they or someone else has a fluffy puppy available.
