FURMINATING
Being a first time corgi mama, I'm wondering if you can furminate too much? Every other night for the past week I've furminated the hell out of Archie, and it keeps on coming. I realize every one has said the shedding is unbelievable, and I honestly don't mind, it gives us one on one time, and he loves the attention, but is it possible to do it too much? I don't want to screw up his beautiful coat.

About 5-10 min. And no it doesn't stop, but his brother is out playin in the yard, so I don't make him sit there for very long so he can go play.

It is possible to over-Furminate. I confess that in the early throes of Furminator enthusiasm, we had at least one session that left Edison a bit patchy. Eventually, I figured out that you cut back on Furminating (as much fun as it is) when:
1) You get more overcoat than undercoat while brushing (this is how Edison got patchy, very obvious on a tri-color!). Undercoat hairs are shorter, thinner and paler than overcoat hairs, and also tend to be squiggly to help with the heat trapping.
2) You pet him and very little or no fur comes off in your hand
In short, if the Furminator keeps on coming up full of undercoat, you may merely have one very furry furbaby. :)

Yes you can, re-read the instruction and follow it, don't press hard on the coat, don't repeat on the same stroke, think peeling an apple. If he is not blowing his coat, once a week is enough.

Thanks Everyone, had I not asked the poor little guy would've eventually looked like one of those chinese crested things!!! The ones with no hair!! I guess I've probably furminated enough for now, till fall. Back to the old comb, brush, slicker brush, and I did buy one of those blowers that groomers use.... I absolutely love it...It helps with hair & cuts drying time after a bath by about 80% as far as I'm concerned

You've been given good advice. I use it two to three times a week when they are blowing coat, and every couple weeks at other times to pull the loose hair. It seems to me the furminator will pull small amounts of viable coat, and not just the dead stuff, if you over-use it.
For light shedding all year, a slicker will work well if Archie has a harder coat, and a fine comb if he has a softer coat (I have one of each).
