Harness

My vet wants me to walk Quincy on a harness because of his corgi-ness (long back/neck). The one I am currently using is "ok" but would like to find a better one. Does anyone else out there in use a harness to walk their corgi? If so can you recommend the one you use? Does it fit your corgi well?

That is odd. I have never heard that about a corgi. Obedience classes so he doesn't pull you may be a better choice since harnesses seem to encourage pulling.

He walks well on a leash but every so often he will pull. Since he has already had some back and neck problems she does not want me to walk him with a collar and suggested I walk him with a harness to prevent further issues.

Sorry that I can't help with what kind of harness to get, but my corgi does wear one. He tried on several different ones at PetSmart and I bought the one that fit him the best. This helped with him not pulling me anymore. With the collar, he would pull and it sounded like he was choking himself to death, so I switched to the harness. The funny thing about the harness, Noodles (my corgi) knows that his legs are short and if he doesn't want to be moved, he will hunch his front shoulders forward and this allows him to slip his legs out of the harness. It is pretty funny, but not so humurous at times when I then have to put the harness back on him and he is rolled over on his back (his way of preventing me from moving him). What can I say? I love my boy!

I was at the book store today and glanced at the dog fancy they had. There is a whole article on collars vs. harness's in their gear guide I know that's not exactly what your deciding here but they had pics. of all the different kind of collars and harness's with discriptions of what they will and won't do so you can decide on that but it seemed as harness's go for stopping pulling they liked the front clip anti pull harness's the best. On a personal note I use simple shoulder harness's that go on/off super easy mine usally pull like the devil for the first block but settle down after that.
