I grew up in a family that put the plates on the floor for the dogs to "clean" before they were washed- no garbage disposal needed! My husband is squeamish about a people spoon being used to scoop dog food, even though the dog never touches the spoon. Anything that is used for the dogs and might get confused with human stuff is given a shot of bright yellow spray paint. LOL. Where are you in dog germ spectrum?

Seems like we are on the extreme-sharing end of the spectrum.  I will give my kids a bite off of my fork and give licks of my popsicle/icecream cone occasionally.  We even joke about which dog has figured out utensil eating the best.  Here is your moment of TMI, the reason I think it doesn't bother me is that I sucked my thumb as a kid and I am sure that WAY grosser things than dog germs have been in my mouth.  It hasn't killed me yet.

I have a friend who respects his Jewish wife's wishes to keep two sets of dishes. I think keeping the dog's dishes and utensils separate from the human ones to keep peace in the house must be much easier! I had to train my husband not to keep deliberately dropping food when he cooked. "Oops" brought them running and of course in order to get there first they had to be waiting right under foot. So our dogs get the very rare people food in their dishes. Except spaghetti, tee hee hee.

Snickermom, good point, three sets of dishes for your Jewish friend!

When Scout jumped on the dishwasher door I had to get a picture for you guys! :-)

He is soooo cute. I can't wait to see him up there when he is full grown!

lol! I don't think he will get away with it then. My husband had a fit when I didn't yell at him right away because I had to go get the camera. He keeps us entertained (and on our toes)!
