As we are experiencing the Minnesota Monsoons right now (like over 4" in the last 3 days)We are the land of 15,000 lakes right now instead of 10,000! I was just wondering how many of you have dogs that are afraid of the thunder and lightening! It appears to me that there is a much higher ratio for this in my rescue dogs and I don't know if this was because of their housing (maybe shed with tin roofs) or never having humans go out with them to experience this. My own dogs raised from pups don't do this as they could care less if it's storming BUT my rescue I have and 3/4 of the ones that I have had are afraid of this. I'm just curious if others have this!

Oh my gosh...evidently he didn't mind water!!!
Delila goes on the sofa and sits and shakes when there is a thunderstorm. The sofa seems to be the place she feels safe but is still scared (she goes on the sofa when the garbage trucks go by but does not shake). When there are fireworks she can't seem to find a good place so she paces the house until they are over. I got her a Thundershirt (it is online www.thundershirt.com) which is a fleece/velcro wrap (I read about the Tellington Touch concept of wrapping your dog to help them calm down - so I tried this). When I put it on her she goes to dreamland and is totally relaxed and not scared.

On another subject - she likes to look out the window and bark at almost any movement at night - so I started putting it on her when it gets dark (not to sleep in) and it works like a charm - she is only barking at real things (we have a few foxes in the neighborhood that walk by)...We get to watch movies without tuning out the barking!
