It's raining...corgis?
Here is FL we've begun our rainy season which for us means rain storms pretty much everyday. As far as I can tell, Stanley doesn't mind it. He loves running through the puddles. I, on the other hand, realize I better get a raincoat because I haven't yet had to juggle holding on to his leash, holding an umbrella, and picking up poop all in the pouring rain. But my question is - should I buy a raincoat for Stanley? He doesn't seem to mind the rain but is it good for him to get wet like that that often?

Good call on the rain coat, I would suggest a nice gore tex jacket, great investment and you'll not regret it. It's a lot more breatheable and will not make you sweat and stink like pvc.
I did not invest in a raincoat for mine, Mocha is hydrophobic, Vienna on the other hand jumps on every puddle, I think it will be fine with all that rain we've been getting, make sure you keep up with the brushing :)

Here in the Pacific Northwest, we have a rainy season, too -- Oct. thru June -- if getting wet is bad for corgies, we are in deep doo-doo. But we don't have actual *rain*, it just pizzles all the time.
You might consider a poncho: simple, convenient, cheap, breathability not an issue..
The new siliconized nylon fabric is amazing.

Here in Wyoming we don't get much rain. When it does it is usually part of a thunderstorm and coming down in sheets. We try not to go out until it is over...not too long normally maybe 10 minutes. Leo does not like to get rained on so hurrys with his outside duties when it rains. Randy likes water and rain and just takes it in stride. I have raingear for when I visit my son in Oregon...you need it there. I think I would get a rain coat for Leo when we go since he does not like rain.

I don't have a raincoat for mine. They don't like the rain too much. But I always have a big dry towel waiting for them after the walks.
If you can get a raincoat for you, that would be great. I understand the juggling with the leashes, the keys, the bags for "business", umbrella, etc. I end more wet than if I just walk outside. An old jacket with a hoodie does it for me (when the rain it's not that bad).

For me? A hooded gore tex jacket so I can get rid of the umbrella. Bear, Tasha and Linus enjoy a good rain; however, everyone needs a good toweling off when we come in - that ultimately results in laundry. I think the good Lord gave corgis all weather coats, put them on farms with puddles and mud. Good day! Nan

Yeah, rain rain rain = mud mud mud. Nutmeg will NOT come in from the rain. She just loves to chase the drops and the bugs that result from the rain. I have a yellow slicker and mud boots for me. She just like to go naked.

A rain coat with a hood is a must for the human but it depends on the corgi. Sparty could care less about the rain and puddles as long as there is no thunder. He just trots along as usual. Izzy and Misty look like they are being tortured by their crazy human draging them around outside in the rain. If I am letting them out in the back yard I have to go out and tell the girls firmly "go potty" or they will come inside and do it. I guess I should try a rain coat on Misty and Izzy to see if it helps!

I haven't gotten raincoats for my guys, who love to be outside in all kinds of weather. I have a stack of dog towels, and just give them a rubdown when we come back inside. I have to say, my experience is that their skin isn't all that wet -- the fur seems to do a good job of repelling water (the same is true when they go for a quick dunk in the river when we're out walking). Of course, we don't have daily rain, though, either.

I totally don't recommend you in buying a raincoat for your dog. We tried it, and failed it. When we lived in Orlando, we bought the first one. Mistake... it didn't cover the tummy. How foolish of me for buying something for a Corgi that didn't cover the tummy side. So when we moved to Japan, I bought a nice one that was actually made for a Corgi & covered the tummy side.
Well, it worked for about 2 days, but eventually, the water got in from her neck area, and her tummy still got muddy. It was very expensive dog rain coat, but we haven't used it since. Not worth it. Spend that much money on you! That will be wiser investment. Oh, remember to get something breathable since you are gonna have to take your doggy out in that humidity! Good luck!

Well, I've ordered a raincoat from Land's End for myself. It has a hood, wasn't too expensive and as a bonus is pretty cute :) In Orlando, it's been raining pretty much nonstop for the last few days so I've gotten used to taking him out in the rain pretty quickly. I'm gonna pass on the raincoat for Stanley. I'll give him a good towling off when he comes inside. Plus, I gotta say the options of raingear for dogs can be a little too crazy...
Stanley would NEVER allow this, LOL!
