I have a lot of the puppy kong products. With the Kong that you're talking about, Emmy's is big enough for her to push around and flip over, but not too big. I think they have the dog sizes on the products. She chews through all of those things too. She loves fuzzy things. I do have some plush toys that don't have fuzzy stuff on the outside and she doesn't want to rip those up. ANything that has mesh on the outside she gets her teeth caught in and then rips it up when she finds a hole. On most products at the pet store it will say "good for chewers" or something. That's what I go for now, and she is doing pretty well!

 

I put ice in her Kong sometimes. I give her peanut butter or the like if she is on hard surfaces, but it makes a huge mess if she is on the carpet. It gets everywhere. Same with yogurt. But ice keeps her pretty entertained and it is nice after a walk in this heat. I also cut up carrots into small pieces and mix it in with her kibble and put it in the kong. It's like a game for her to find the carrot pieces and it takes her a while to eat it all. Good luck!

Thanks for the response! Tobi LOVES ice so I'll have to try that in the Kong and the carrots sound like a great idea! Definitely gonna see how he likes that. We're gonna have to make a trip to the pet store to get some new toys since he's destroyed his :/ lol.

If we're a BIG chewer I would go with Lg or Xlg my corgi at 4 months could carry a xlg kong (we've been feeding him since he was 13 wks old out of toys. I love Kongs and we have a variety of sizes here. I have only used peanut butter but I'm sure yogurt would also be great. I also love the orange /blue rubbery Fetch It balls as they come in a smaller perfect corgi size and are indestructable! My vet carries Premier(?) toys and they are great also. I use only rubber toys as they are the best at least for us:)

Jane, can you be more specific about the rubber balls (brand, size, where you get them...)?  I tried google but came up with a lot of different choices. Thanks.

I have a black Kong the size you describe (the black is for heavy chewers and more resistant than the red).  I don't put anything in it because I don't want to make it more appealing and encourage more chewing of it to get to the inside. Mowgli plays with it, tosses it around, carries it from room to room, but the chewing is quite limited.  If you  have a source of used tennis balls ( from someone who plays tennis ) they are no longer fuzzy and less attractive to chew.  I also use large size rope toys with a tight weave, the dogs like to play tug of war with each other.  I simply throw it, since I don't like to play dominance games with my dogs. Nylabone makes a dog frisbee, but I've not tried it.  Mowgli has a large size wishbone style Nylabone. He likes to chew it and it's held up well.

My aunt brought up Nylabone products too, guess we'll give them a try and see how Tobi like them as well as the rope toys! Thanks for the suggestions!

Regarding Nylabones, only use the smooth kind, not the bumpy surfaced ones.

Franklin still has his puppy Kong that I got him when he was 9 weeks old. He isn't a heavy chewer so that Kong has worked fine. Peanut butter works great in a kong, and so does the kong stuffing that kong makes. Franklin has several interactive toys such as 2 or 3 different Kong brand toys, a few everlasting treat type toys (not sure what brand is but they are tough rubber toys you can stuff with treats), the omega treat ball, etc. Good toys for corgis are ones that keep their mind busy. Beware of the hard plastic Nylabones as they are known to break teeth. Also stay away from femur bones from petstores because those too often break teeth. I usually go to Goodwill and buy a few stuffed animals, they are usually 99 cents so when Frank shreds them it doesn't really matter too much, just stay away from toys with hard plastic eyes or noses because they can swallow them. Rawhides or bully sticks are good for heavy chewers as long as they don't eat big chunks of the rawhide.
