I've been in search of a fluffy corgi that would not only be another companion for myself and fiance, but would also be a nice long walk buddy for our corgi. I did some looking into the fluffies and I know they're usually not bred, but some corgi breeders do end up (by chance) having a fluffy in a litter. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on where to search for one. I recently have checked at local shelters and rescues and there aren't any corgis available to my knowledge. I could really use some advice from fellow corgi lovers. Please and thank you!

Where are you located? I would start by contacting breeders in your area. If you are specifically wanting a fluffy then you may be in for a long wait and you likely won't find one in a rescue (although I have seen them in rescue a time or two).

We're located in Maryland, close to DC. I've already contacted local breeders and they're not expecting any litters until next year in the fall.

I agree with  Melissa...contact breeders.  They never know when they will get a fluffy in a litter.  It's not really that much of a resessive gene, fluffies are not that uncommon.  Per AKC regulations a fluffy cannot be used for breeding purposes.

Yeah I heard that as well. A lot of people don't try to breed for the fluffies since they can't be showed. They're kind of common? I had no idea! I I've read on a blog post that they're pretty hard to find in litters since not many people breed just fluffies of do a mixture of fluff and that there's a huge boom of fluffy breeders in Japan, but that's pretty much some of the limitation knowledge I know about fluffies.

You're definitely going to have to start contacting breeders and letting them know what you are looking for so they can be aware.  But, not only that, they might even be able to refer you to another breeder who might have one already.

When I just moved into the house I'm living in now, I met an older lady living down the street from me who had two fluffy Pembroke Welsh Corgi.  I made the comment that fluffies are hard to find and she told me yes!  She had to call all the breeders that she knew and told them specifically what she was looking for and that it HAD to be a fluffy.  She was retiring her older male fluffy corgi from agility and wanted a younger one to train for agility.  She got her tri-colored fluffy girl.  But, she had to put the word out first to the breeders so, that they were aware that someone is LOOKING for a fluffy.

And here's a video(I just wanted to share) of a recent litter from Japan I believe, that has 2 puppies that look like they are definitely going to be fluffies!  The two fluffies seem to be quite bossy too!

A while back I was looking for a fluffy. Really wanted a tri and wanted a male. I contacted all the breeders in my area as well as friends who knew people. About a year later a tri female came available but the timing wasn't right so I passed on her but man was she CUUUUUUTE!

Awe I bet she was a beautiful dog! I haven't had any luck finding a fluffy. I've been trying to find a fluffy for a few months now. Had to recently put it off since moving with my fiance.

I want them all ;->

Love this video :)

That was a super cute video! They're all adorable. I heard that there were quite a few fluffy breeders in Japan.

Definitely contact breeders and get on a waiting list, if need be. Fluffies can be in every litter and there is a range to fluffiness. Also, just recognize that you are limiting the adoptable pool and may be in for a long wait to find a fluffy that fits with your experience and lifestyle.

I know we're limiting the adoptable pool. We've applied at quite a few rescues and adoption agencies for Corgis and other breed of dogs. Sadly, the corgi we apply for ended up getting adopted out before we could begin the process and the current place we live at doesn't allow certain big dogs. Thank you for your help!
