I took my corgi to the vet today as her skin is red and she is scratching and biting so much. I took her back in October and he gave her some steroids and other shots which helped briefly.
He said that we could either switch her food to see if that is it, take some pills which are expensive, or take her to a dog dermatologist.
Has anyone had problems w/ their corgis and if so, what helped? She currently eats Royal Canin Active Special 25.

We have been down this road with Sparty. After changing his diet under the vet's supervision we ended up having him allergy tested. They actually shaved his side and did the pin pricks test. He turned out to be highly allergic to a huge variety of things and we give him an allergy shot once a month which helps a lot. Usually about once a year he needs Prednisone but typically he does very well. He is allergic to everything from house dust to dandelions and fleas so no chance of eliminating things. If it is food you can change the diet but when it is almost everything you have to be more aggressive. Good luck finding out what it is. By the way, Sparty has been on this regiment for many years and is 10 and a half and doing great!
Yes, but our problem turned out to be just seasonal allergies, and they let us give him a half benedryl.
