Pebble has been very unresponsive to food over the past 3 weeks.
She loves food and usually takes less than 15mins to finish an entire bowl of dog food.

About 4-5 weeks ago she started losing her teeth and couldn't chew her food.
So I added water to her food but usually she won't finish the whole thing.

Now, for more than 3 weeks, no fallen tooth has been found and Pebble seems to be fine with dry dog food again. But very occasionally she will finish her food and over the past few days she is only eating 1 meal per day.

What can I do? I tried mixing her food with a different brand, adding chicken broth, or even can food, but they only work once or twice...

I took her to the vet last weekend and doc said she seems totally fine...

Is she bored with her food?
Is she still suffering from sore gum and teeth (I don't think so because she still eats treat)

Please help

thanks!

Gary

If she seems fine, and the vet isn't worried, I wouldn't worry too much at this time. You may be lucky and have a corgi that is a nibbler...as rare as they are. My first corgi was like that. You would put a bowl of food down and she would eat a few pieces on and off all day long. Never weighed more than 26 pounds.
Even if she isn't losing teeth she still could not have the teeth to chew well. You could try adding yogurt to her food or like LouAnn said she might just not be a big eater. I also had one of these...Bella had no big interest in food.Since the vet isn't worried and she's not losing weight i would just moniter but not worry.
Parker went through that phase of not eating when he was about 5 months old. It took a few months to get him back on track and he eats very well now. My dog trainer said some dogs are just like that and they won't starve if they miss a meal or two. It was very upsetting at the time but looking back, Parker was fine...it was me that was the nervous one! Probably drove my dog trainer nuts! I wouldn't worry too much! Just keep an eye on her weight.
Every once in awhile Soffie refuses to eat her morning meal. I give it 30 minutes and then pick up the bowl. By dinner I put the bowl back down (we only feed dry kibble) and she would eat it right up. Sometimes I'm not hungry. So I figure it's the same way with Soffie. And that's probably what it is for Pebbles too! Now.... if she refuses to eat for more than 24hrs, then I'd say check with your vet.

You might try changing her food. We feed Soffie & Griffyn Wellness Core reduced fat. But I think you want to be careful about making too big of an issue of it. You could very quickly find yourself wrapped around her little corgi paw, (they can do that you know) and be spoon feeding her her meal of choice!! LOL!!!
Sidney is also a nibbler, and sometimes he'll skip a meal altogether. It IS worrisome, but as long as she's acting normal otherwise, try not to worry about it.
Echoing everyone else on here, it seems like puppies just go through phases where they have more important things to do than eat... like follow you around the house or lay at your feet or catch a bug. My corgi is 7 months and still does this about every 3rd or 4th day. As long as she is acting okay and the vet isn't worried don't worry about it. If you are really concerned, you can monitor her weight just to make sure she isn't losing.
Add some yogurt with active cultures in it. Like Activia.
Boy do I understand being worried, Sami is only a morning eater. She will eat very good in the morning and only nibble once in a while at dinner time. She finaly got me to understand that she just doesn't like eating a lot (of dog food...treats are a whole other thing) at night. I'd keep an eye on Pebble but as has been said if not dropping weight and the vet is not worried then..... Good luck. I hope you find a tooth, I was soooooooooooo excited when I was able to get one of her baby teeth. I put it in a little glass jar.
I agree with what everyone says, not to worry, they won't starve for skipping a few meals.

I have ALWAYS had trouble with Pooka. I think I traumatized her about food when she was younger because I was so upset she wasn't eating. (maybe Pebble is afraid to eat because the pain she associated with it?)

What I've been doing is giving her a big ol' treat she loves (in her bowl) whenever she empties it.
thanks everyone for your replies!
I am so relieved now after reading your stories and comments.

I'll just stick with dry food + chicken broth. Because sometimes when I added other fancy stuff such as food topping or can food, Pebble would eat but ended up having a diarrhea : (
I've been feeding her Advoderm but now I am mixing Advodem with Wellness.

Thanks everyone!
Loki eats when he feels like, he is now 8 months and down to 1.25c of food a day, simply as last week, he just stopped eating 1.5c. As long as they are eating some a day, active, and not losing weight, chances are they are doing fine. I lace food with fish oil, pumpkin, or crushed up beef liver (freeze dried) every now and then for 'variety'. This sometimes makes a small initial difference, but will not alter the inhaled food volume per day.
Keep one thing in mind:
Dogs absolutely will not starve themselves in the presence of food.
She could be bored with her food, but don't give into it.Feed at set times, leave the food down for no more than 15 minutes, and then put it away. No snacks until the next meal. Keep at this for a couple days and surely you'll see results.
Of the two foods you're mixing together, I'd recommend eliminating the avodrem, and feeding the wellness.
Chicken broth is very high in sodium. Sometimes simply adding warm water to the food brings out the aroma enough to lure dogs to eat, but the sodium content in the broth is unhealthy.
Even so, keep an eye on her gums and teeth.
