Hoping I can get some advise here.  Our Sophie is obsessed with being outside.  There are rabbits that live under our deck and she will spend all day smelling the deck and checking all the corners etc.  Is this something I should be concerned about, the obsession part.  I bring her in the house and 2 minutes later she wants back out, she will whine and cry at the door and jump on the door to go out. So it is hard to just ignore her.  We live in Wisconsin so now the snow is here, and the temps will continue to get cold.  I just do not know if I am over reacting and should just let her outside or if I need to somehow break this obsession.   Anyone elses Corgi like this?  ANy advise would be greatly appreciated.

Wylie loves being outside too, but the cold weather and random snacks he finds bother me. I think the best solution is physical and mental exercise. Wylie's learned to use the treadmill and toys like Kong are good distractions.

what do you put in his kong?  seems like no matter what i put in it, she has it cleaned out in no time.  She goes for 2 -3 walks a day, and I try to play ball and stuff with her, but she is  more interested in going outside and looking for those darn bunnies.

I always freeze ours after I stuff them, because my two will have them empty within a minute otherwise

Seanna is the same way.  She could spend all day outside and be perfectly fine with it.  When we're in Kansas I let her stay out where I can see her...she just stays in the yard of the house and basks in the sun.  Since they live way out in the country I don't worry as much--she never goes anywhere anyway, but I keep a good eye on her just in case.  Now that we've moved to the country, she is driving me crazy.  Always at the door, staring me down, giving her little woofs in to make me take her out.  I find if we just go for a long walk through the pastures twice a day it's not as bad.  She at least sleeps for a while after.

Or maybe Sophie thinks it's her "job" to check on the rabbits under your deck?? :)

My corgi is somewhat obsessed by these two trees in the neighborhood because every time we are there, we see squirrels running and I think he naturally wants to go there to make sure the squirrels are still there and it is his job to make sure they go and stay up the tree.

Sorry I have no advice.

Have you done any classes? Becca is much less intense while we have a class going, class days and homework time. I was going to not do any this winter due to the commute, but am rethinking it.

What if you remove her from the door by a room? Could you gate off the kitchen or what ever room the door is in? She may just obsess at that point instead. I had a border collie with OCD years ago, I had to break the cycle and help her refocus.

I freeze Becca's kong filled with pb, Honest Kitchen, or mashed up veggies. Freezing makes it last a bit longer. I have several treat dispensing toys of varying difficulty. I have both Kong geniuses, they are harder to get food out of.

Well, around our place bunny turds are the most important...if she's eating them I would do a monthly wormer. I wouldn't worry if she stays nearby if it's fairly warm(we live in MN) but maybe not being near the door might help. Good luck breaking this mine aren't obsessed but sure do like the darn things.
