I need help from fellow corgi owners and your participation could help my vets diagnose what's going on with my poor dog!!! Here is what I need, I need corgi owners to take their dogs' temperature after they've been playing for a while and let me know what you find, as well as body type of your corgi (thin, average, more to love, etc). My corgi appears to have an overheating issue and we have done A MILLION tests on him to figure out what's going on, the vet has now gotten to a point where she is guessing its a neurological issue and that he's not overheating at all. The vet has basically given up saying maybe corgis just get hot when they play, the thing is THERE IS NO EXISTING DATA on what a normal corgi's temperature is at play. I really feel his temp is abnormal and his symptoms a clearly those of hyperthermia, I need to know if he does in fact have an elevated temperature (which then can lead to brain/organ damage) or if this is normal and his symptoms are those of an underlying neurological problem. This information would be sooooooooooo helpful to me and my vet and I can't even begin to explain how this will help with Franklin's future. Today the vet said he can't play hard anymore.....he's 1 1/2.....I just don't see that as an option. If we can find a diagonosis, and can better understand what is normal and what is abnormal we may be able to figure out what is going on with my boy. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!! It'll only take about 30 seconds but may help us find some answers.

I wish I could help but I don't own a dog thermometer! Sorry and best of luck...hope you figure this out! Have you checked with any other vets? What about with a university vet school? We have the U of M here that has a great vet hospital /clinic...but it is spendy! I hope others can help you out!!!!!!!
Hey Melissa, it'll help if you prepare a doc file with clear instructions. For example: Age, gender, neuter, intact, weight, pembrook / cardigan / mix, existing rx, what type of activity, how long, when the temperature was obtained, daytime, nigh time, indoor, outdoor...etc. That should give you some accurate data, give a deadline so that people feel motivated.
