Rescue Remedy?

I've heard to use this if I'm going on a trip to keep the dogs calm. Has anyone had any experience with it? Just to note: I will be talking to the vet prior to the huge road trip about sedatives/anti nausea medications and anything else that comes up during that point in time. I was just curious as to what everyone's experience was on that topic.

We have used this for Sparty for years. He has anxiety issues especially in the car. I do think it helps but it really does not remove the problem. He just seems more relaxed. My vet looked at the ingredients and said it should not be harmful although I doubt he thought it worked. It does apparently not have a good taste because Sparty (who will eat anything) does not like it. I usually put it on a piece of bread before giving it to him. However, he has not had any side effects from it. My other corgi sleeps just fine on long car rides so I have never given it to her. Do you think your dogs need it?

My concern would be Cloud, the Weimaraner. He doesn't get out as often as Freya does and when he does, he is pacing constantly in the backseat. I'm ok with it (not in love with it) when we are driving around the town, but to go to roads I have never traveled before--it will only make my anxiety worse and I don't need that.

I am not sure it would stop the pacing. Maybe try it ahead of time.

It's probably as good a snake oil as anything else. My wife swears by it and administers it occasionally. It's virtually impossible to tell if it works -- which sets off my snake oil alarms.
Instead, I'd recommend Dr. Gwynnie's Little Pink Pills. Sure, they cost more -- a lot more -- but they alleviate all ills that the flesh is heir to. Trust her. Would a dog lie?
Maybe I should try Rescue Remedy myself on Monday mornings.

I thought I would need something like this for Leo on our trip to Omaha. I never got to the vet before the trip so just went on anyway. He did fine after the first 14 miles. He slept most of the way or chewed a toy. He is a good traveler now. Randy has always liked going in the truck...the breeder hauled him around a lot I guess. I would take them anytime without meds.

Well, I called the vet for just in case mild sedatives for the trip. I was told it wouldn't knock them out but make them relax and that, I hope would be perfect for the hotel. I kind of worry because I know our Weim will bark at anything that comes near us and Freya will just bark at anything unless she's in her crate. Hopefully, we won't have any issues.
