I am not 100% sure if this goes here (feel free to move, mods, if necessary) but trying to figure out how to gauge sizes for harnesses or collars, and whether or not they're better suited for puppy sizes or full grown corgi sizes.
I have a rough estimate on full grown size, but am not sure if I should purchase without taking a measurement.

I have always used the completly adjustable harnessess so that as the puppy grows I can loosen it up..The one inch wide Large size in nylon works well for adults. In a puppy I might try the medium since they are so full in the body. I just recently switched over to the step in comfort harness. It seems to be less restricting under the arms and my dog moves better in it.It lies flat when the buckle is open. Then all you have to do is put their front feet in each loop and snap buckle it on top.I have taught my Cardigan Alex to step onto the harness while it is lying on the ground.Make sure with an adjustable that there is an adjustment for the strap under the belly since their bodies are so long. You don't want the strap to fit right up against their front legs and digging into the armpits.
I would get a small collar but you might be surprise how little time they work. The thinner the better. I would suggest a martingale collar for walks...I send them home with all my pups and use them with my own adults when going places I don't know. Martingales need to be put on only for walks, can't be left on but your pup can never back out of this collar that's why they are so important!
thanks for the tip, we're still looking around, but for the next 8 weeks it's nothing but puppy prep!
I had to get Chloe a harness because she would get so excited at agility practice that she would make her self pass out with the slip lead. I went to our local mom and pop pet store that carries the brand of collar, leash and harness that if chewed the manufacture replaces it, no questions asked. I took her into the store since she is somewhat small and most other Corgi size stuff is generally too large. The staff was great about the fitting.
see the collar FAQ. I really like my modified Martingales (pictured therein).
