Split personality?
We are in need of some help. Max has gotten where we never know when he's going to jump on Molly.He has gotten so nasty we at a loss to figure out what is going on. They make up right away and there has been no blood. Molly has gotten a couple puntures on her ears. Should we start crateing them? Have them on their leashes? Thanks.

I agree with Sam, your best bet is professional help.Did you ever take Molly to the vet? However, if professional help is not possible I would try working with them separately on basic obedience at least once a day (heel,sit etc) including having them sit before feeding. Make sure you always feed in the same order. Meanwhile leash the aggressor (I assume it is Max) and have him travel around the house with you for a few days. Then assuming things are improved I would have him trail a leash around so you can quickly step in.
What is their age difference? It is possible that Molly is at that age where she is challenging some and Max is putting her in her place. Either way they both need to see you as the one in charge. Short training sessions will help them understand that. A professional evaluation would help identify what ever you are doing to contribute to the problem. We tend to do that without realizing it.

I've had some of the same issue's as this with my 2. Jordan is 2 and Teagen is 1 now. this started a couple of months ago and the changes we've made is crating them at night, no toys at all are in the house anymore, and lastly all treats are given inside the crate. If there are issue's both dogs are put to bed(crated) for a little while as sometimes I'm not sure who was giving who the stink eye. They also go to daycare on fridays to release any pent up energy as sometimes I think boredom or not enough excerise can be an issue but living in the northwest raining season right now makes the long walks a little hard even though they always get walked everyday. You should see some physical clues to Max's intentions before an attack on Molly for example... Jordan ears go at half-mast and his mouth does a little pucker with a slight narrowing of his eyes now Teagen is completly different her ears go straight up and she will lean forward a little and start elvis lipping with low key growls Jordan is completly silent. Play detective and start really watching your pups for their signals as they are giving them. You should be able to intervene at that point with a sharp low toned "No" that works well with us. Leashing as Mrs. Levy suggested is a really good option to prevent anything from happening again now.
