Just a reminder that to keep our beloved dogs "safe" they should have dog tags and be micro chipped. I just got a reminder about this from our local Humane Society as there was a dog that went missing and they found him 15 miles away plus they don't think he got there on his own:( The 1st thing most Humane societies(or vets) do is to scan them for a chip.
I have found tags that glow in the dark(or reflect) so that if it is dark cars can see the tags too. Since we live in the country and our dogs don't wander(there's always a 1st time) I make sure they are protected. These tags also are made of a plastic material and they don't make noise like metal ones do. I have added Owners Alert to mine so anyone who would find my dog can call and the company starts to call (24/7) (+ text) the numbers I provide. This is a life long feature and you can add it if you add another dog. I use Lucky Pet and have for many years.

I use Home Again (chip) for both my dogs, they are also registered with the AKC (lost dog) and wear tags for both. Plus they have ID tags with my name, address and phone number which is my cell so they can get me even if I am not home.
The corgi I posted about several weeks ago still has not been found. He is chipped and they know someone had to have taken him out of the yard. They even had a bloodhound group that looks for lost pets. They were able to follow the scent out of the alley behind the house and down the street a bit and then lost it. Most likely because he was put into a car.
TEST YOUR CHIP when you visit the vet.
At 8 years old, Gwynnie's gave NO SIGNAL. It may have fallen out shortly after insertion, and we were relying on it all that time blissfully unaware.
Home Again replaced free of charge, of course.
Shortly after our first dog was chipped, Lori found it emerging from the skin whine she was combing.
Recommendation is to have the chip checked at each annual visit.
That's a bummer about the corgi not being found, unfortunately there are mean people in the world:( We had someone not too far from here take a Corgi and let him loose in another town as a joke. Not funny!
We can all hope that if our dog ever goes missing they will be found by a caring person who will return them.
Jane....now on top of it someone broke into their house over Easter weekend. Most they have had is nasty phone calls saying things like they hope the dog is dead. Their toddler son is heartbroken without his best friend.
Linda, I would be totally crazy and ready for the Psych ward if someone did that to me. That is so sad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
