As I type this, Dax is DESPERATELY trying to get me to play with him. He's laying upside down on the couch with his face buried under my leg, pawing at me and grunting. If we're eating and he wants whatever we have (which honestly, when does he NOT?), he knows we won't give it to him so he'll lay kind of on his side/back, paws up, and paw at the air as if he knows he looks so cute like that and thinks we'll give him something. Then when he figures out we won't, he'll start making these grunting noises and roll around. Or if I'm in a room that he isn't allowed in, he'll lay down right outside the door, nose on the floor, and make weird grunting/whining sounds with an occasional "woof" in there somewhere. When he knows I'm mad at him and I say his name, he'll immediately roll onto his back, paws in the air, and look at me with those pitiful eyes -- of course then I'm not mad anymore. If he wants me to throw his toy he'll go and find it and bring it to me and drop it in my lap, wait a few seconds, and if I don't pick it up, he'll grab it and drop it closer to my hand. What a personality on these little dogs! What does your corgi do to get your attention?

Well, one of Duncan's BAD habits is whining....and whining....and whining. We try to igore it, but after 10 minutes, we end of telling him quiet, which gives him the satisfaction of getting our attention (spoiled....very spoiled). But, one of his favorite ways is getting our attention is to get his kong, and drop at your feet for peanut butter. If you tell him no, he'll pick it up and take it to the other person and drop it at their feet. You know, like if mom says no, maybe dad will say yes. He has managed to get some peanut butter this way. Especially if we are in different rooms, and didn't hear the other say no.
Sidney does the famous cold-nose poke; if I'm sleeping, it is usually in my eye!
When we are eating, he makes a low growly noise, like he is saying "Hey, remember me?"
Bertie Wooster has often shut my laptop with his nose (while it's in my my lap, no less!) or pushed his nose right through the newspaper or magazine I'm reading. But usually, he just fixes me with the Corgi stare down. In fact, at night, when he's had an emergency, that's how he wakes me up -- sits on the floor, by my head, and stares me down. I swear, it makes my brain hot and I wake up. Ethel, on the other hand, has no subtlety -- she just sits and barks at me, then smiles that big goofy grin when I look over at her. When really desperate, they will both pick up their favorite toys and sit at my feet with their toys in their mouths, looking pathetic. Sadly, it works every time (but they're not spoiled, and I don't know why people keep saying they are! hahaha)
Atlas will shove his toy in my face over and over unless I tell him "not now" or "stop".
He also likes to give a slight tug on my clothing if he feels I'm not paying enough attention to him.
Subtlety seems to be lost on this breed.
Gibson is a whiner for sure! Or else he just lays w/his head on the ground looking as sad & cute as possible so we have no choice but to pay attention to him!
Mario just STARES and Stares. no whining but you always have the freaky feeling of being watched and the second you look over... thats when he loses his mind and starts to bark his head off. by then its knda hard to ignore him.
Vienna often raises her paw like a reporter does at the white house :) Sometimes she would quietly stand on her hind legs like a prairie dog, giving me her biggest smile. Mocha on the other hand is a nose nudger, sometimes if that doesn't work, he'll back up, roll over and give me a "take me for a walk" bark.
Algy will throw things at you - his bones or toys. When he thinks he's in trouble, he will 'corgi sit' - which is sitting on his butt in a begging position, kinda like the corgis in Tasha Tudor books. If he's really desparate, he will nudge your hands or elbows (when he can reach them).
