It occurs to me that we could save ourselves some cash if we shared some of the purchases that proved effective for corgi owners. For example, what collars, car restraints, lifters best fit the breed. I think it would be very helpful to know what purchases are most helpful, based on the temperament and anatomy of a corgi. I can highly recommend one item, a step-open, covered trash can that prevents dangerous foraging. I ordered it online and I turn it around when I go out, just in case my ridiculously smart corgi figures out how to step on it and open it, though it is pretty tall. It is trim and clean looking, which I love. It requires tall, kitchen trash bags and it has expensive bags designed specifically for the trash can which you can order, but it works just fine with plain old store-brand bags. It has a 10 year warranty and it is pretty solid. I have actually gotten compliments on my trash can. How often does that happen? I don't remember how expensive it was, but it was at least a worthwhile expense in my mind. I have had it for a few years and it still looks new. Sorry I don't have a link, but I added the name below so you can Goggle it at least if you are interested.

Ah hah...thanks for the lead to this wondrous contraption! My son's dog, Charley the Golden Retriever, has figured out how to open the step-on trash can. Just to make everything perfect, Charley has a sensitive gut and so gets the doggy-wobbles every time he eats anything out of the ordinary. Son would be very happy to know of it...in fact, what a great birthday present it would make! :-)
