A few of us from the IL Corgi group are meeting up at Whalon lake, off of rt-53 Naperville, this Sunday the 4th. Come join us.
Hi Claire and Theodore! I used to live in Rogers Park and would bring my corgi Winston to the beach park area...between Labor Day and Memorial Day during the fall and winter, people feel more comfortable in letting their dogs run loose. Also, especially before 9 am and after 9 pm, cops don't seem to enforce the dogs-on-leash rule as well as no-dogs-on-beach rule. Therefore, you'll tend to see dog owners and dogs hanging out at the beach. Corgis are herding dogs, so they tend to stick by their owners, compared to other breeds that may tend to wander off.
Otherwise, I don't know of any official dog parks in Rogers Park. Sometimes people also let their dogs run in fenced in areas like tennis courts not being used at the moment, for example. Just look around when you walk your pup and notice how others are using certain areas for their dogs to play and run. I live in Edgewater water, still walking distance to the East Rogers Park. I'd be happy to have our corgis meet at the beach park area. Mine loves to play ball!
In addition to helping this way, I volunteer for Lakeshore and we are currently looking for Foster homes, in IL, IN, WI, IA and MI.. If interested in fostering, please contact me or the rescue directly at www.lakeshorecorgirescue.com
